You are not permitted to use/kang/take any files from ViperDNA for your own personal roms or projects whatsoever. Do not bother pm-ing to ask for permission, xda's sharing policy does not allow us to selectively share files. If you are making a mod/theme specifically for ViperDNA to share, then you are permitted to modify and package the files up for usage...that is the only exception.

  Recovery
  
  There is no *perfect* recovery to use for flashing ViperDNA at the present.
  
  TWRP will (as of last time I checked) properly flash our OTA updates and "addons" from Venom Hub, but will not wipe data in aroma. To use TWRP with our rom, you must manually wipe data/factory reset on your own before installing the full rom (not on patches/ota's) because the wipe option in the rom install does nothing.
  
  CWR works with aroma wipe option, but not our OTA installs and hub "addon" installs. When prompted to reboot into recovery with both of these, you will get an error like:
  
  

  Code:

  no such path :SDCARD/blah blah blah install failed.

  This is to be expected since CWR doesn't support our install path. Just manually install the zip from sdcard/Download/whateverthezipisnamed.zip and click "install unstrusted zip" when prompted.

• PLEASE SEE POST 2 FOR SPECIFIC INSTRUCTIONS DEPENDING ON YOUR RECOVERY!
• Have unlocked bootloader via jcase method and HTCDev
• Install a custom recovery. twrp or one of the cwr's out (please see above)
• Download the ROM and place it on your internal SD card.
• Do a nandroid backup!
• You may choose to wipe data / format system in recovery prior to rom install (some report better aroma success, again ymmv)
• Start rom install process, wipe data in aroma, and make sure you select what you type of install/changes you would like
• This rom packages the kernel modules from dsb's stock read/write kernel in it. If you are not already on a kernel that supports system write, you ****must install this one or another r/w kernel****
  
• download boot.img above or pull from rom.zip and move to your fastboot /dir (if fastboot is not universal on your computer)
• boot to hboot after installing rom
• plug phone into computer and make sure it says "fastboot usb" on it in hboot
• cd to fastboot /dir in terminal
• fastboot flash boot boot.img

• If installing or already on DSB's stock system write kernel, you do not need to flash a kernel module package...if using another custom kernel, you will need to flash the module package *after* installing and first booting up the rom.

Q: How do I install the rom?!
A: Installation instructions above.

Q: Whats the md5 sum thing?
A: It ensures, that the rom is downloaded correctly and completly to avoid weird issues when installing/using the rom. Google for "md5 sum checker" and you should find what you need.

Q: My phone stucks on HTC splash screen
A: Did aroma freeze and not full install the rom? Reboot to recovery, format /system, and reinstall rom w/ data wipe in aroma.

Q: Whats the boot.img. Why we need to flash it?
A: The boot.img is the kernel and have to be flashed if you want your rom running well. HTCDev Unlock doesnt allow to install the kernel directly when installing the rom in recovery, thats why you need to install in manually.

Q: How do I check for an OTA update?
A: Settings->about->software update.
The "software update" feature directly from settings has been disabled (I'll remove it when I get a chance).

Q: I tried to apply the OTA update, but got errors in recovery?
A: Different recoveries on this phone will not recognize the predefined OTA path that the phone attempts to apply...don't worry, just proceed to manually install the update from /Downloads on your sdcard (if you get a signature verification warning, just click ok/apply anyway and proceed).

Q: I found a theme or mod, will it work on this rom?
A: It's NOT recommended to use mod/themes that dont clearly state, that they are compatible with this rom. Themes/Mods tend to use framework files or system apps which will brake features in our rom or cause bootloops.

Q: My question is not listed here, what to do?
A: Ensure you used the xda search, google and your brain before asking a question in the thread. If you cant find an answer yourself we will answer your question for sure! (-:

Q: The cube effect isn't working on the app drawer
A: The cube effect just appears when you swype from the all over the frequent to the download tab, and must be enabled in tweaks.

Q: What are the correct sizes for the App drawer and notfication pulldown background?
A: At least 720x1280, but preferably bigger.

Q: What are the correct sizes for custom carrier logo or statusbar image?
A: 200x200

Q: Will there be CRT On/OFF support in the next release?
A: NOT possible, because HTC changed some required code in their libs, that makes it impossible as of now.

Q: Several HTC Widgets are missing - can't add them to my homescreen.
A: Settings->apps->all apps: choose htc sense and clear data.

Q: Why is there are OTA for every update?
A: Because DNA roms are so large, anything over 50mbs (full roms are huge updates) really can't be sent to our OTA server, since it would use a HUGE amount of bandwith.

Q: Can I make feature requests?
A: You can always make recommendations/requests, but it doesnt mean we'll take them into consideration or can even realistically implement said feature.

As if the ROM wasn't customisable enough, the venom devs have also developed the Venom theme kitchen.

Really want some statusbar icons that aren't in the Hub. Or got a great idea for a set of Sense icons? Why not make it yourself and share it with others via the Venom Hub?!

We've put some themes in the Hub to get you started, but the aim is to fill it with user generated content. We've tried to make the tutorial as easy as possible, but if you have any questions, here's the place to ask.

One thing we ask though - ideally you'd be using icons you've created yourself. If you are going to use someone's else icons, please ask them for their permission first. We all spend a lot of our free time making these, and it's really annoying to see your work ripped off by someone else! I'm sure you'd all agree. If you used icons from the UOT kitchen, then say so.

we will need to resize status bar images and carrier images, and the status bar themes that exist will have fuzzy icons cuz theyre meant for qHD and HD, not xxdpi (FULL HD). Rosie themes seem ok. If a statusbar theme says its for the DNA, then it is sized properly (or should be).

I will attach the working parts of kitchen now, but I need to make a stock statusbar theme apk for you to work with. Best results on rosie themes would be minimum 96x96 icons I believe. (though bigger might be better)

I must say viper is a beast! I am well pleased. There are a couple roms out there, not like on the razr, but a hand full. But I think ill camp on this for a while. Its only my 3rd one for dna, and not to knock the other 2 but viper is really just above and beyond. Packed with options, blazin fast, great battery. I only wish it had tether/hotspot workin out the door.

After a just a little bit of time with it I just had to get it on droidrzr. Nitsuj17 was awesome about getting it on over hear.

Loving this Rom, but I read there is an ota out for it? What's the proper way to install it? Do we need to flash new kernels? How do we get it, I've checked for updates on the phone but nothing is coming up.

You can download it in the OP on XDA and flash in recovery. I stayed away from the OTA since I have CWM which doesn't play well with OTA updates

2nd post updated with update from 1.1.0 to 1.1.1

If you are using TWRP. Just go to settings/about/software updates/check now (@the very bottom)

Make sure the ota is the proper one1.1.0 to 1.1.1 / download and install. If not just download from 2nd post, and reboot CWM and install via regular methods. Shouldnt need to do a full wipe for a OTA, i would probly wipe cache's though.

Looks like a few minor bugs, cant move lcd dens back past 400. Forces rosie in update.
Look for another update fixing these minor issues within a day or 2.

Also looks like a vzw ota, so we may be seeing some radios soon. Hmmm:)
