I posted this in the unbrick your phone thread as well, but thought it would be more appropriate here. It seems my work computer will only recognize my phone as connected when booted up normally. In Fastboot Mode, ADB doesn't show any devices as being connected??

I could use some help getting ADB set up on my work computer. Running Windows XP & followed all instructions completely. When I enter a command prompt, type "adb devices" & the phone is booted up normally, it shows my phone is connected. When I attempt to repeat this in AP Fastboot mode though, I encounter 2 problems. First, it begins to look for devices, shows "Devices Attached," but there is no serial number. Second, when I type "moto-fastboot.exe flash system system.img" it says that this isn't a recognized command. Any thoughts on what I am doing wrong?

Edit: I have exhausted every option I can think of, but still can't get it setup & working. This is super frustrating since I was able to successfully set it up on Windows Vista.

Still looking for some help here! I reinstalled the SDK/JDK/Moto Drivers, and have tried 2 different computers. My phone still appears to not be recognized by ADB when in Fastboot. When booted up normally, I typed the "adb devices" command which worked; my phone was displayed. I also used "adb reboot-bootloader" to reboot into Fastboot mode. That worked, but once the phone was there, it still wasn't recognized. I opened RSD Lite as well to cross check, and it appears that it won't recognize the phone either? I'm stumped! Can someone help me figure this out please?

Edit: Still haven't found an answer to this question, but just wanted to share that despite it,

When installing SDK Usb drivers, what is "Stopping ADB server failed (code -1)" and is it anything to worry about? Other than that it did install the drivers and I see the phone in cmd. Thanks.

Bignadad: I have two questions about setting up SDK. I was reading the install instructions at the SDK web site and for Path they say "double-click on Path (under System Variables)." and yours says under User Variables, what is the difference between these? If you do use User Variables, does is matter what name you give it (I've seen XDA list it as ADB for the name)? Thanks.

In the Android SDK Manager are you suppose to check every box in the list and install the packages?

to a folder on my desktop.C:\program files(x86)\android\android-sdk......... screenshots would be cool

The problem with that is you can't have your tools folder in a folder with spaces. So with Program Files (x86) its not going to work. Move the sdk to Windows or some other folder with no spaces and it will work. Try C:\Windows\android\android-sdk then fix your path and it will work. Maybe this should be put in the OP to help with people who aren't familiar with adb.
