This is a no-compromise ROM. I specifically switched over to these forums to get my hands on a clean 4.1.2 ROM. I'm all for the work being done on 4.2.2, but I'm not going to sacrifice any features or functionality to stick a higher number in the "about the phone section" or get a split status bar for toggling device options.
This ROM is stripped down, cleaned up, debloated, no smoke and mirrors, and the closest thing to a pure Google experience (e.g. Nexus) I've seen on this particular device. I've been lurking around XDA (been a member since my first Eris, so only natural) for a while thinking that 4.2.2 was the only option based on the overwhelming number of 4.2.2 offshoots, so I've owned this phone for a few months without modding it. This was fully due to the fact that I thought I had to give something big up to make the move.
I'm glad I found this ROM, because I thought paying in cash for this device was just another in a long line of bad choices of Android devices I purchased (Motorola must be joking with their stock bloatware and half-butt attempt at O.S. optimization). Google Now was slow as hell, games lagged every few seconds, phone would lag, launcher would lag, browser would lag... and Google paid how much to get their paws on this division???? They should be ashamed. Aside from the battery life and better than GNexus 4G (by a mile, which isn't saying much), this was a downright pathetic device (I thought I bought another LG Revolution - don't even get me started on that POS mess LG created). All the while I was reading glowing reviews wondering what kind of bologna pony people were smoking when they were using their devices.
There's still a tiny bit of lag on the Nova Launcher, but I think that's due to the widgets (I think specifically that the GMail widget on a full page has some issues with minor lag - if you scale it down, this doesn't happen).
It's a thing of beauty now, and made my decision to give up on this device turn around, so ya, major kudos. This will likely be my daily driver for quite a while.
If you can get that mod up BDH, that would be super groovy (edit: hey Hicks - just realized that was you :D). I can't count how many times now I've caught myself holding the power button looking for the restart button :P I know there's one in the power bar built into this ROM, but I never think to look there even when I have that running.
A little something I can add back to the community: I did get tethering working. WiFi tether doesn't appear to work with the Realtek chipset, so if you have a Yoga like me, or a device that uses that for the WiFi chipset, abandon all hope for that ever working (not sure if this is an Ad-Hoc issue with the drivers, W8 driver specific, or what?). You'll know, because if you can connect, but there's no internet, there's your sign. That's the reason I believe you have half the community stating it works perfectly, while the other half is completely lost thinking they're just making crap up.
USB tether worked great, and combined with Virtual Router, you can share that connection with your other devices (VR is buggy at this stage - but it works pretty well once it's started). I think the Ad-Hoc piece will still work with most other devices, though.
