Due to an unfortunate momentary distraction, I mistakenly flashed CM13 to the stock Rom slot on my XT912 with Safestrap, obliterating the stock JB...I somehow had the impression it wasn't possible to overwrite the stock system. It actually booted, but as there was not enough space left  to install Gapps, nothing much works. I now have CM13 running now in Slot 1,  it's updating as I write, so I'll soon see how that works.

So, wondering what I have to do to reinstall the latest possible stock Rom in that slot...and where to grab the files.   Can I flash a stock Rom in recovery or do I need to use RSDlite or fastboot?  This was my first mishap after quite a few flashes, roots and unlocks, so it underscores the need to pay close attention.  At least I didn't brick the thing....

Thanks all!

Do you have a nandroid of your stock slot? If so, just restore it. If not, here is a link to the latest Razr utility. It contains the latest software. Note that it also includes an older root method and an old (v3.73) Safestrap. I would not use either of those. If you need them, I'll supply you with links to Moto-saferoot and Safestrap v3.75

Thanks! No, no nadroid of the stock rom...should have done that but this phone  is not my daily driver.  I think I have safestrap 3.75 installed, will I need to re-install it?  Will doing this mess with the CM13 in slot 1, which is working well?  What method shoul I use to install JB...can I flash w/ safestrap, fastboot/ADB, RSD Lite?

Thanks again....

Yes you will need to reinstall safestrap. Make a nandroid of your cm slot as you will lose that also. Just restore the nandroid to the correct slot after reinstalling safestrap. As for installing just make sure you have the drivers installed, then run the bat file and follow the on-screen instructions.

OK-Thanks, DM...when I recreate Rom slot 1 can I make the data partition larger than I originally did and still restore to it OK? i.e. 3 gb instead of 2.6 gb?  I ran out of app space and I hate the whole formating SD as internal storage mess...what a train wreck.

Yes, you can make it larger.

Everything pretty much worked as it should, thanks for the great tools.  And guess what...when I reinstalled Safestrap, ROM slot 1 was still there (or maybe reappeared?) and CM13 was untouched.  Curious, I did the full wipe install option. I guess rom slots must somehow be protected from factory flash?  Hence, SAFEstrap? Anyway, many thanks.

'Nother question....the xt912 is 16gb onboard, my rom slot 1 is ~4.5gb, stock rom is around 4, wondering where the rest of the memory is...does Safestrap divvy it up into multiple rom slots upon install?  I haven't looked to see if other slots are pre-configured.

Safestrap doesn't pre allocate anything. The 16 gig is 8 gb for the stock system (includes the CD , preinstall and webtop partitions.) The other 8 gb is available as user storage. Safestrap will use some of this for each rom slot you create.

Great...thanks once again.  In practical terms, 2 rom slots is about the limit then...the CM13 I installed uses over 4gb.

Thank you for this.  New to the forum.  Had a old phone laying around with the last carrier upgrade and decided to load 5.1 on it.  Jacked up my phone after clicking the wrong tab for a different method of flashing than I had started.  After hours of searching and trying to get my phone out of a loop this software package fixed the problem.

For anyone searching for help.  I used Windows 10 (clean install v. upgrade), a non-Moto USB cable, and loaded pretty much every Motorola Driver I could find until it started showing up in device manager as ADB interface device or similar name, (not sure which driver actually did it because it was late as in up all night sun has been up for 3 or 4 hours late).

Once again thanks a million

I did have to disable Windows Defender and my Anti-Virus software (Avira) but that seems to be the case for anything non-MS in Windows 10.
