Don't update until we can do a little more research. There is a very good possibility you will loose root permanently if you upgrade.

That's My thinking too...that why I really didnt want to go back to Stock to remove the Freeze...It may update Both is my worry...

That New Update .165 is the sleeper to Loose Root...

Other ROMs are updating with the New Updates coming down on Build .16 with no issues that I am currently on...
 
Can you bring it back to Build .16 Instead of Build .165?

My thinking is...Going Back to Build .16 keeps you away from getting the Build .165 and taking on the Vz Updater that is Forced down to Blow up Root...

Okay...

 

  • Currently I am on Build .16 Verizon
  • Able to get Nightly Updates on .16 from other ROMs
  • Is you Build currently on .165 or Build .16?
  • You mention it was possible thats why I wasnt able to take the Update
  • If your On VZ Build .165 and Fastboot back to VZ .16.... wouldnt you By Past the VZ Updater so not to loose Root?
  • My Thinking is .165 you will loose Root...Going Back to .16 keeps you away the the Updater from Verizon.

Like I know what the Hell Im talking about...Makes sense to me...but you Guys are Waaay out there for Knowledge my friend

You can install the update and keep root using Voodoo if everything goes as planned. If not, I know you're able to RSD (or whatever your choice of downgrading is) back to .16 so that's not a problem. Just the time involved. I was just thinking maybe we could swap the kernel out like we used to when switching from a rom on the JB leak to a rom based on the 16 OTA .

It might make more sense to use 16 as a base although I realize 165 was requested in this thread. My guess is more people running custom ROMS are on 16 than on this new update. Could be wrong about that though. I'm not at home right now and won't be until this evening. Maybe I'll be a guinea pig and see if I can just flash the kernel. Worst case would be RSD back. No fun but not the end of the world.

Why don't you freeze the updater with Titanium Backup? I did and I do not get the update all the time and battery life is back. I am on stock rooted though and will put this ROM as my OEM on soon.

Most of us have Frozen the Updater including me within Titanium...However, the Unpaid Version of TiBu will not allow for anyone to Freeze...Other than to Upgrade...Is the Solution,,,,

For those looking for Titanium this would be a Great Fit...Especially to Freeze the Updater in Titanium

Ok so as I'm seeing it right now...an upgrade to the .165 firmware base isn't really wanted or needed right now. That was the initial goal of the new version was to bring FJ up to the latest OTA from VZW. Since .16 is the better base to be on here (obviously), was there something else that you guys were looking for?

Only the New Safestrap V to 3.65...
Bingo...JP.... VZ .165 is the New Build which Breaks Root...that why I didn't update
