OK, got it done.  It installs fine on 3.11 however once it's booted to the OS setup crashes.  I click OK and immediately after that, system ui crashes.  Click on OK again and setup crashes and round and round I go.  

 

However, it dawned on me while I was installing that I'm still on .16 on my stock rom.  Don't know if that would be a problem or not.  Did the kernel change on .165?  If not, and it's just different files within the OS itself, I would think it wouldn't matter.  So, I don't really know if it's a problem with the rom or the fact that my stock rom is still on .16.  Whatever the case, it installed successfully and booted, then crashed when it got to the OS.  Made it that far anyway.

I dont know if it would cause the errors you're describing but yes it would probably cause errors. It also could be a problem with how it was deodexed. Do you know how to get a logcat?

Well, I know how to get one when the OS is running but not sure how to while it's booting.  I'm thinking adb.  I'll hit Google up and see if I can figure it out.  Back when I get one.  Well, if I do.

Well, I've messed with this for quite a while and I'm not sure what to say.  Figured out how to use adb to get the logcat on the rom I'm using on another slot (usb debugging is enabled on that rom) but I'm not sure what to do with this rom and logcat.  Since I can't boot into the OS, I can't enable usb debugging.  So, when I boot the phone on this rom, all I get from adb is waiting for device.  It never does recognize the phone.  That said, the phone is mounting internal and external storage when it boots.  When I boot the phone with it connected to my computer they both open in Windows Explorer and I'm able to copy, delete or whatever I want to do with them.  Is there a way to enable usb debugging without getting into the OS to do it?
