It should be noted that there is a fee for this service

On an aged device as far out of security support as it is, I would personally have to think about putting money in the device...

I agree completely but there are a lot still keeping this and the 907 alive via custom roms.  I don't know if the newer roms have the upgraded patches or not.

True, but throwing $25 in a device you can find for $50 in great condition... I'd have to think hard about that.

I still have two XT-926's here and I have been thinking about roming them to keep them viable for backup devices.

Granted these Razrs are long in the tooth, but I still use 2 of them, rooted and unlocked. Still on stock 183.46.15....so does anyone know if there is a dependable daily driver 5.x LP or 6.x MM ROM that will work as well/better than KK?

Oddly, CyanogenMod  hasn't offered any CM13 for it but they do have it on the XT912. I tried a CM13 nightly on an XT912 I have, it's very sluggish and had bluetooth problems.

Thanks...

Well, I flashed Dirty Unicorns 9.8 on one of my unlocked XT926s, put a Selectel (Verizon network) SIM in and no mobile data connection.  Thinking it was the ROM (9.8 was the last build and they don't support the device any more) I wiped and flashed CM12.1 nightly (6/27/16 build) and it connects 3G only with the Selectel SIM.  I swapped SIMS around with my 2 other unlocked 926s and a rooted 912, and the long & short of it is the Selectel SIM will connect 3G on some of them (and also disconnect from time to time) and the Verizon SIM will connect 4G on all devices without issue.  Tried various tweaks of  APN settings, including the ones form the Verizon SIM phone, but any deviation from default kills the data connection completely, and it takes a rest to default and reboot to get 3G back.   Phone calls and texts work fine on the phone with either card.  Other than the 4G issue with Selectel CM12.1  works well.

Selectel rep says I "damaged" the SIM by using a custom ROM or "modified device" and won't replace the SIM.  Does anyone have any thoughts on this SIM issue?  Could running a non-stock ROM toast it?    Way I understand it, the main function the SIM performs on Verizon is the 4G connection, so if that's not working (and a Verizon SIM works) the SIM must be bad.
