Man, here I thought I was the only one hammering F5 on that page.. Oh well, glad there's good news so far about the build! Makes me feel safer. (Not that proper flashing can really ever be dangerous, but whatever)

Did you do a clean flash or just wipe cache/dalvik?

I just flashed 5-06, all seemed fine, but now I see sound is screwed up. Every time I go into any notifications and try to set sound, nothing happens, sound is turned up, just ringtones, etc will not preview sound. then system locks up, and reboots. I deleted rom slot 1, re-created it, wiped cache, dalvik, system, installed gapps and the 5-06-13 nightly build. Any ideas??

Try wipe cache, wipe dalvik and fix permissions. Always worked for me when I had sound issues after a dirty flash.

The last couple of Times just both Caches...
I see no need to Clean System then you have to reload Gapp...Its an Update not a System Revamp...
Well I am not a Tech Guy either but it working fine for me right now with NO Issues...

IMO-
I would Not Wipe System for the reasons mentioned above with lost of Sounds, Notification and Mics unknown with System Apps...
Reflashing Gapp I am not sure if it Restores All the System Apps/Apk back into the ROM...
Just do Both Caches...Permmision if need be but thats it...
Works like a Greased Wheel...Awesome!!!

sorry if this is off topic but has anyone else noticed that back in the days of GB cyanogenmod was top dog in terms of roms, but as soon as cm9 came out and ever since, it completely lacks a wide set of features like it did back in the day....just sort of wondering what's up with that?

Ics and JB have brought a lot of features that people wanted to their phones already. Cm's real goal now seems to be supporting as many devices as possible.

CM is still probably "top dog" in terms of it being the largest custom ROM with the most users, supported devices and the fact that it's been around for so long. When ICS came out, a lot of things that were previously only available on custom ROMs became parts of stock Android. It seems like with newer versions like JB the CM team isn't about adding in the most features and customizations but making a simple, stable custom ROM and bringing it to as many devices as they can. If you're looking for a richer set of customization options, ROMs like AOKP, Liquid Smooth and Carbon are around and they're more focused on expanding customization options and additional features.

I still think CM is the shiz. I don't need too many customizations. To me its great. As long as its stable I'll use it. Its as close to "vanilla" as one can get without using an OG droid. And now that it uses kexec, we have a little more wiggle room since our bootloaders are locked :
