Just flashed 10.2.1 stable.   Seems alright so far but I had one MMS issue not send even after toggling data and rebooting a few times.  Does this go away?

Hows CM 11 vs 10.2.1?  Which do you think is more stable?

I'm on CM11 nightly 1/30 BTW, I thought I remember seeing it before I restored my old back up, perhaps that made it disappear, seems strange though for one item to be gone if my back was messed up.

Sorry to sound so n00bish guys. But the ROMs you guys are running sounds like what I want.Especially CM11 (if you can't tell, I'm new to this). I wanna upgrade to .165 but I'm worried that I'll loose root and won't be able to get it back. Then you guys are talking about gapps. And it just sounds a bit confusing. I know it's not but I'd like to make sure I'm doing everything in the right order as not to mess anything up. Is there somewhere that describes the process step by step. Then I'll come back here if I start having any issues. I wouldn't be asking but I've looked for the last couple weeks and found nothing.

If you decide to update make sure you use ota voodoo root keeper. There is not really a reason to update. Make sure that when you are flashing the ROM in Safestrap that you flash the ROM and then the correct gapps. Gapps has to be flashed separate with cm due to licensing.

Excellent advice. I checked the change log for .165 and it didn't have anything useful other than a signal quality fix for roaming in Alaska I think. In either case, you're not getting any major new features or a new flavor of OS, so I'd just stick w/ your current to avoid any issues since you're new.

Then again, I have learned the most about android by messing my phone up and figuring out how to fix it (usually by browsing these forums and talking to more knowledgeable members).

I'd check the change log for .165 and see if it is worthwhile, or just go ahead and try it with voodoo and use it as a learning experience! Good luck to you!

The two issues I had with 10.2 was the sdcard0 unmounting after a day or so and the MMS not working. Both issues required me to wipe my custom ROM slot and reinstall. Both are working fine now.

I think the sdcard0 issue was due to an app misbehaving, no issues so far.

I was the same way at first, and it is a reasonable apprehension (who wants to brick their phone?). There are step by step instructions somewhere in the forums here, have to get back to you w/ a link. CM is, IMHO, the best ROM out there. Tried numerous and I (like many others) end up w/ this as a daily driver.

So I just installed CM 11.  Is there any way to use the CM 10 messenger on CM 11?  The CM 11 messenger got rid of the "Emoji Support" option that was in CM 10.1 and 10.2, which gave us iOS emojis.  I don't like the kitkat emojis at all.

I tried downloading the CM 10.2 messenger app, but Kit Kat doesn't recognize it so I can set it as my default SMS app.

Any ideas?

Ok. I'm gonna do it (as if I hadn't already made up my mind  ). My only question is...What gapps do I use with CM 11? And where do I get it? Also, are there instructions somewhere?

I now realize that was more than one question...

One issue I've dealt with since moving to CM11 is that it doesn't utilise the SD card properly for storage. Prior to partitioning I'll have roughly 5 GB free. I partition Safestrap to take up 4GB overall, it'll just use up that 1GB of remaining space while I've got a 32GB SD card with 23 GB free. It worked properly in CM10.1.2, through countless nightlies and stable releases. I've wiped the phone with Matt's utility and updated to .165 and tried it again with the same results. Any info would be greatly appreciated, running stock can be so slow.
