Im running Linux Mint 14, i was wondering how do you, i guess mount your sd to the computer on linux to move files to and from the phone/computer?

I use kubuntu 12.10 and I simply plug my phone in. An entry shows up in the Drives section of Dolphin File Browser. When I click the entry it mounts automatically. However I read this does not work on jb. Well that the SD card does not show up as a USB device in jb ROMs. Since the upgrade to jb, I have not been able to get my phone to show up in Linux or a windows 7 VM. I just installed win 8 to a physical partition on my beast of a rig and have not tested it in win 8 yet.

it works fine for me on windows 7 but I'm running Linux Mint and it doesn't show up, I have read that linux waits for the device to settle and devices on jellybean doesn't settle when plugged in for whatever reason pretty sure you can mount it somehow but don't know how to or if there is a program to install that would allow you to edit files on the device
Try Multi Mount SD Card.

I think the reason it works on windows 7(and windows 8) is it has support for MTP. Notice the device now hsows up as a media device rather then an actual flash drive. My guess is linux lacks MTP, or needs a package to support MTP. I am still running ICS on my Bionic, which mounts to my ubuntu just fine. But just taking a guess, it sounds like a mounting issue. I would take a look at some mint/ linux forums for some commons how to mount a device.

Yes it is, but sometimes wireless is not the best/preferred way to connect. For example, I might not want to transfer an entire album or two of flag files over WiFi even with my Wireless N connection. Its not bad for transferring a ROM from my PC to my phone through as file manager using an ftp connection to my PC.Air droid is a good management app
That's the thing ICS is fine. But JB for the HD has no USB mounting capability. Instead it only uses mtp. Mtp makes it listed as a media device in windows. It looks and acts like true USB device but it has some draw backs I believe.I am still running ICS on my Bionic, which mounts to my ubuntu just fine. This seems like it will work for mint/*buntu.
Spoke go soon. Mtp is an extension of USB developed by Microsoft. I already had libmtp9 and libmtp-common installed so it may be a Mount issue after all.
