Got a bug in my butt to dig up a new ROM for the trusty XT912 earlier this evening after updating my Galaxy tablet to Lollipop. Found a Cyanogen 5.1.1 CDMA ROM (CM12) and updated Safestrap to 3.7.5. I did a full backup (system, data and secure) via Safestrap to the external SD card and moved that to my PC.
I created the new boot slot and installed CM12 successfully along with Google apps for 5.1.1. I booted into recovery mode and restored the data from my backup. All my apps, wallpapers, widgets came back ok, but none of my pictures, SMS messaging, music etc did. I'm not concerned because they're still in the Stock ROM slot (That's Jellybean 4.1.2 if it matters) and I can boot between the two just fine...
I'm not sure what the secure and system portions of the backup contain, but logic tells me I probably will break something if I restore the system stuff. Anyone know what's contained in the secure "section"?
I'm not completely sold on the new ROM so may switch back and forth over the next few days so here come the (potentially) stupid questions:
Is there a way to keep contacts, messages, pictures, music, etc. "synced" between ROMs? (i.e. get each one to "point" to the same folders/data) or are these partitions completely separate?
I looked for some info on how safestrap creates its file structure in hopes I could just copy data over with a root enabled file utility, but am striking out (It being after 2am isn't helping my focus any) Can someone point me in the right direction?
This is the first time I've really messed with multiple ROMs under Safestrap. Is there a "manual" somewhere? The places I found to download it don't have much more than some very cursory information...
Thx!
