OK this is getting very frustrating I used Matt's tool did option 1 then option 3 it installs superuser and I can open it but the f I try to use SqLite or Root explorer...... says I DONT HAVE ROOT.... I did notice Matt's tool uses clockwork mod superuser and it already needs an update which fails, rather than supersu.... yes I'm on MTP latest USB drivers, USB debugging on , unknown sources on.... etc. etc.. I did set up my Google account before I rooted though so I'll do option 1 again and try again I've never had this much trouble rooting.
Dont setup google or anything else....Ive used it now many times hasnt failed yet.

Correct! Setting up Google may start downloading your apps and updates to Smartactions causing the exploit to fail...

I hope youre kidding.....
He probably wasnt. Like I said a few posts up people dont recognize numbers sometimes. Which is critical because there are so many Razr variants out there numbers are the best way to tell them apart.

1. Charge your phone (not sure if 100% charge is necessary, but I did this). My phone was completely stock with OTA Jelly Bean.
2. I installed the latest USB drivers for my phone by downloading the appropriate file from here:
3. Attach your already booted phone to your already booted computer. (Mine is XP Pro) The computer will recognize the phone.
4. Download and extract the zip file at the beginning of this thread. (if you haven't already)
5. Put the phone in "USB debugging" mode. This is under "System Settings" and "Developer Options"
6. Change the phone to "MTP" mode. There are two ways. First is, drag the notification bar down, and select the "Mass Storage" to get to the appropriate settings page. The second is, (from the home page) select "System Settings", "Storage", and then press the settings button again to get to "USB computer connection".
7. Open Manage Apps, and choose Smart Actions and select "Clear Data". I did not uninstall updates or anything else. I simply cleared the data and returned to the home page.
8. Run the "run.bat" file in the unzipped razr_blade folder. It would be better to open a command line window first and do it the old fashioned way, but you can click the file and it will run the same. But when the batch file finishes the window may close, and you may miss the results.
I did it incorrectly the first time, because I accidentally hit a key before I'd selected the "Battery Saver" per the instructions. Here is the list from my second run:
I then had a rooted phone. The only obvious change is a "#" icon under Apps that's labelled "SuperSU". You can also download an app called . The first time I ran it said I wasn't rooted, and the second time it said I was.[*]

Afterward, I got FoxFi working again by installing SQLite (a $2.99 purchase), and following these instructions.
The difference is my phone's entitlement check was on line 150, as opposed to the example. FoxFi works again, and all is good.
Now I need to decide where to go from here with my rooted phone.
Many thanks to the OP, and all the help provided (including the other posters).
