I'm thinking you will need to wipe data with Matt's Utility. Then do root prior to logging into Google. There has been an issue with Smart actions being updated causing the root exploit not to work. But a fresh install usually takes care of it.

IMO...
Smart Actions seems to conflict with System Apps

Thanks so much Dan for rooting my phone. Maybe one of the few pleasures I have for a while. Thank you.

Sorry so long but hope this helps others. New to this forum. Usually over at the X place. But will be here more as this is just for my bada55 phone.

Again Dan, Thanks.

Thanks for documenting your journey/walkthrough. It helped me out a lot.

I also had to reboot three times despite reading this. The second time was because I thought I was smart and created the profile before hand...

Just delete all profiles and create Battery Saver during the root process.

Hi All- lots of great tips here but still having issues. I have XT910.  I'm getting same error below as others are having I have tried about 30 times to get it working this morning.

I have enabled debugging mode. I have reset my phoneto factory defaults  but did log into google accounts. I have tried smart actions zillion times. emptying cache/data.  I am connected im MTP mode. I am using windows 64-bit.

I am about to try wiping data and fresh jb firmware as suggested, by Memnoch73 on post #457.

<a href="

utility and use option :1 Flash Official Jellybean Firmware (Wipe Data)

I see there are warnings not to use on an an XT910- Is this just for rooting or can still use to wipe???

Thanks!

Linda

I keep seeing all the posts saying this root is only for XT912 and NOT XT910 however is first original post is says:

So our fearless root master, Dan Rosenberg (

Please Login or Register to see this Hidden Content

), has successfully achieved root for the JB OTA and it's here first on DR.com! This root exploit is applicable to the RAZR and RAZR MAXX (XT912).

To the best of my knowledge the Android RAZR is the XT910?????

This might be causing  the confusion.

So will this work on not on the XT910?

Argh, well.. I did try using

Please Login or Register to see this Hidden Content

to wipe data and get clean jellybean firmware.

I am getting horrible error on start up...

AP Fastboot Flash Mode ( Flash Failure)

I can get out of this by turning off power then go into boot mode by pressing power and volume + Volume _ key at same time.. then choosing "normal boot" mode.

Everytime phone shuts down tho I get that screen and have to go thru whole thing again.

I am in a nightmare and feel like an idiot.

I have all ready tried factory reset from within phone and in recovery mode and still happening.

I would be very grateful for a solution.

Thanks again,

Linda

You just need to get one thing to flash properly to get rid of that message and go forward. Even flashing logo.bin should fix this. We have some thread for this somewhere in our forum.....will see if I can find it

But as I said a fastboot flash logo logo.bin should work

Thanks- I would really appreciate it. Not sure why after I did a reset I have jellybean. I was on rooted ICS and yesterday I did update without thinking about how it would unbreak phone.. woke up this morning with a frozen screen and have spent all day trying to get phone functional.

I would love to get some kind of a root ( and I am useless with linux so not an option) so I can restore with Titanium Backup.

Ideally I would like to go back a functioning rooted ICS.

I wonder if /when there will be an XT910 root? Is there much demand do you think

I am looking at this method, which requires downgrade to ICS root, then up to JB again.

It is for Maxx  but  I THINK it might work. I am very gunshy after disaster this morning :(

NOOOOOO Linda. You cannot downgrade to ICS. Not happening.

We have root for the 910 if thats what you have, look on the front page of the site or for Motochopper, that will get you root on a 910.

If you have a 910 you will need to get the 910 fxz files and flash them, we only have that for the 912 here

Okay we need to dig deeper. First did you do it prior to logging in to Google??

Cover the basics... Moto drivers installed, USB cable that came with your phone, Fully unzip the files to your desktop, USB debugging on, Phone set to MTP mode??

Also take a read though this whole thread. There are many questions and answers that may be a fix for you.

Let us know more info and we can get ya going.
