I have followed the instructions completely and tried this 5 times. I am getting line after line of this and it does not root. Also an\ could not read ok from ADB server = 109

[*] Rebooting...
* daemon not running. starting it now *
ADB server didn't ACK
* failed to start daemon *
error: cannot connect to daemon

Razr Maxx. I was rooted before update but did not have updated SU binaries(stupid me) when I tried to use the method to keep root. Superuser is still showing on my phone but I am not rooted.
Please help.

just out of plain curiosity why does op say not to have your phone in mass storage? because mine was and it worked but i was just wondering....

Best practices for rooting are to not have the phone in mass storage mode to ensure none of the system files are in use because the phone has them in mass storage mode. Always better to err on the side of caution. If it worked for you, great. :)

I kept root with Voodoo when I upgraded, but I want to wipe everything and start fresh since I've been having a couple issues. If I do a factory reset from settings, that will put me exactly back to the stock JB OTA, correct? So I can then root it again and go from there.

I factory data reset doesn't mess with the system partition so you will not lose root when you do it. I would try a reset first and see if it clears up your issues. If not then we can talk about reapplying the leak.

Yes, it is installed, no, it is not disabled. No apps are disabled. Tried again after new drivers and rebooting everything: no dice.

YES! Cannot wait to get some custom ROMs back on my baby. Gonna donate some money to this awesome guy who I would not have had root on any of my moto phones without.
