Hurray! It's finally working!

I had to reset to factory defaults, and also in SmartActions the SAVE button was not available untill I have changed an event conditions manually (you can change anything there actually, to make the Save button enabled).

I tried rooting with an older root program I used before, and got the:

failed on '/data/logger' - Permission denied

 Message -

I did check to make sure I was in MPT mode and debugging is turned on. - Not sure if I should try and run it again or what ?

There is currently no root exploit for the Bionic if you're on JB.

Since Razr and Bionic are similar, would this possibly work for the Bionic as well?

[*] 5. Press the Home button.
[*]
[*] Press enter here once you have completed the above steps.

780 KB/s (3477 bytes in 0.004s)
[*] Rebooting device...
[*] Waiting for phone to reboot.
[*] Phase three (this will take a minute)...
failed on '/data/logger' - Permission denied
mkdir failed for /data/logger, File exists
Unable to chmod /data/logger: Operation not permitted
link failed File exists
[*] Rebooting device...

So I have seen multiple of people having this error. And the fix is to is to wipe data and cache or something. I did not do that. I did not want to loose any or have to reinstall my stuff. So I went back to the instructions and read again as you are suppose to do when you have an issue BEFORE you post to ask what you did wrong.

In the instructions in the rooting program says:

"Before continuing, ensure USB debugging is enabled, that you have the latest Motorola drivers installed, and that your phone is connected via USB."

Another post says:

Windows-
-Download the zip file and extract.
-Connect device via USB (Make sure you have the current Moto drivers FIRST!)
-Make sure USB Debug is on
-Make sure you have Smart Actions fully installed, unfrozen and unmodified
-Make sure the phone IS NOT in mass storage mode
-Double click run.bat

And someone else somewhere said "Mass storage should be turned off" but did not give much more than that till a page or two later.

Then in the root program it says:

[*] Complete the following steps on your device:

[*] 1. Open the Smart Actions application.
[*] 2. Select "Get Started".
[*] 3. Select "Battery Saver".
[*] 4. Select "Save".
[*] 5. Press the Home button.

The first time I tried this rooting program my problem was I saw no "Get Started" In the "Smart Action" app. So I clicked the "+" at the top and clicked "battery saver" as the instructions said then clicked save. BUT I got the same errors as others are getting. At the beginning I had that "Smart Actions" thing disable so I went to Google Play Store, searched it and enabled it. I had uninstalled all the updates months before and disabled under "Settings>apps>All" trying to get rid of that thing.

Any way after my 3rd try I figured I am doing something wrong. Went to Smart Actions app and deleted all the profiles for anything in there. Mine only had 3 battery saver profiles and a sleep profile, just touch and hold and delete. NOW I see "Get Started". Now I am ready there.

So went to Setting>Developer Options and made sure "USB debugging" was checked. Even though it comes up when you plug USB in and says "USB debugging connected".

The mass storage thing was a little more as there seems to be no direct instrucitons I could easily find. So plugged in USB cable, swiped down "status bar" from top of screen, tapped "Connected as a mass storage" of which gave me a few options. I selected "MTP".

Tried the root program again. There it is, no more "permission denied".  The "Cleaning" at the end took forever It seemed but I now have SU and root.

And sorry but I didnt wipe any data or anything like that.

Had a little time finding Safestrap that just says RAZR. Other stuff I have looked at says RAZR HD/MAXX of which I understand is different.

Installed just fine.

Now just need to find how to use Safestrap.

Thanks so much Dan for rooting my phone. Maybe one of the few pleasures I have for a while. Thank you.

Sorry so long but hope this helps others. New to this forum. Usually over at the X place. But will be here more as this is just for my bada55 phone.

Again Dan, Thanks.

OK where are the XT-912M GSM ROMs? Is it just no one had done because or new root? Can you add stuff like Touchwiz without screwing things up?

This is the first time I have rooted my Razr Maxx and it appears to have worked fine. Is there something on the phone I can check to confirm it was successful?

Next step is to flash to PagePlus.  I have seen lots of posts and videos to do that, wondering if there are some instructions recommend more than the others?

so did you touch "Get started" in "Smart Action" app?
Are you set to mass storage or MTP?

Also to note when I get to the stage to enter smart actions and save the battery saver all goes ok however when I hit save. the phone has a yellow "error" under the action. I finish the exploit for the above results. I must also note that prior to taking the OTA update my wife's was rooted and there were apps frozen with Titanium Backup (including smart actions) I did express to her at the time in the event of an update that they should be defrosted prior to the update. That did not happen. The update was applied while all her apps were still frozen. Not sure if this is causing the issue. Since the update the phone has not seemed to have any issues operating but I'm not sure all the apps that were frozen are there. Anyway this is my issue and any help would be appreciated. My next steps are reapplying the update first with out a data wipe then with a wipe if needed. I wanted to get some ideas first before I try these, don't want to brick the phone. Anyway thanks for any help.

I'm thinking you will need to wipe data with Matt's Utility. Then do root prior to logging into Google. There has been an issue with Smart actions being updated causing the root exploit not to work. But a fresh install usually takes care of it.
