echo "[*] Phase three (this will take a minute)..."
./files/adb shell "sleep 40"
I used:
echo "[*] Phase three (this will take a minute)..."
./files/adb shell "sleep 140"
I hope this may help some others and thank you for the root!

[*] Razr Blade: Motorola Droid Razr 4.1 Root Exploit (Windows version)
[*] by Dan Rosenberg (@djrbliss)
[*]
[*] Thanks to p3droid for assistance in testing.
[*]
[*] Note: this will not work on Razr HD, Razr M, etc.
[*]
[*] Before continuing, ensure USB debugging is enabled, that you
[*] have the latest Motorola drivers installed, and that your phone
[*] is connected via USB.
[*]
[*] Please carefully follow any instructions provided in the exploit.
[*]
[*] Press enter to root your phone...
Press any key to continue . . .
[*]
[*] Waiting for device...
* daemon not running. starting it now *
* daemon started successfully *
That's what I'm getting, been there 10 min or so, not sure if that's normal or not.
I found a solution to this a few pages back (I think, checking now and testing it)
After I am rooted can I freeze smart actions or do I have to leave it enabled still?

I can't get this to work on my Razr Maxx. The razr utility worked to install JB but won't root phone. Program says link failed. Will doing a reset fix problem? any suggestions to make this work.So our fearless root master, Dan Rosenberg (
), has successfully achieved root for the JB OTA and it's here first on DR.com! This root exploit is applicable to the RAZR and RAZR MAXX (XT912).
This means all of you who lost root through the OTA update will now be able to root your devices once again.
A huge thanks to Mr. Rosenberg for all his hard work and dedication! He is the first one to achieve root so, as promised, the bounty is his.
to the Root Exploit Release and Discussion thread.
Here's the link to the actual root files:

[*] Phase three (this will take a minute)...
failed on '/data/logger' - Permission denied
mkdir failed for /data/logger, File exists
Unable to chmod /data/logger: Operation not permitted
link failed File exists
[*] Rebooting device...
And from what ive seen i need to unistall updates to smart actions...but im running Jelly Bean OTA update, and basically it wont work. Play store doesnt have an option to uninstall updates, so how can i do that. the only choice i get in the manage apps menu is disable app, How can I hax and uninstall the updates or am i gonna have to factory reset.
My screen is also cracked so I could just get a whole new phone but I wanted to root first to back all my apps up, unless theres a way to backup like that without rooting.
Side question, is there a way to backup the homescreen, like how all the apps and folders are?

mkdir failed for /data/logger, File exists
Unable to chmod /data/logger: Operation not permitted
link failed File exists
[*] Rebooting device...

First you can try to clear data on SA in manage apps. If that doesn't work then a Factory reset is in order and then do root before signing in to Google

jb ota xt910, the device did not work, gives the following errors.
You didn't see the thread title that clearly states XT912. Not XT910.

How do I root?

Short answer:
I really hoped to avoid a factory data reset, but that was the only way this root worked for me. And it worked flawlessly in less than 5 minutes. I even forgot to change the USB storage option off of mass-storage mode this time, and it still worked. Many thank yous to Dan and all who contributed, smoothest root ever.
Long answer:
When JB came to my phone, I had zero trouble with the upgrade-in-place, so I couldn't have been more pleased. I'd read of others having to do FDR (factory data reset) just to get JB to install. And my phone is encrypted with device+password and a screen lock code, a source of trouble for others.
JB worked beautifully until about 10 days later, when suddenly com.motorola.blur.home drained the entire battery in under two hours. I couldn't get rid of this. Power off/on didn't fix it. I googled the issue and tried other ideas but in the end FDR fixed it.
Having just done FDR a couple of weeks ago, I wasn't keen to do it again. But when I followed the instructions here to root, I received the same output error messages reported by few others earlier in this thread: The daemon is successfully started, and after that every command results in "permission denied" or "no such file or folder" messages.
Before starting to root, I powered off/on my phone, updated my PC's motorola USB drivers, checked SmartActions to remove updates (there were none), and erased SmartActions app data so I'd be prompted with the 'getting started' dialog during the root process. I also tried all three USB connection options. I even removed my screen lock code (didn't try removing encryption).
I finally raised a white flag and did the FDR, with erase of all storage. Then I went into the initial setup only far enough to activate Verizon, then abandoned it (didn't set up my gmail account, didn't restore settings, etc.).
Could I have finished the setup (with or without restoring my settings) and still had the root work? Dunno. But if anyone is following all the steps and tips here, doing FDR, and still can't root, try that. Activate your carrier then exit initial setup without setting up anything else. Worth a try.

Quick notes from rooting my wife's and my phones over the weekend...
If the Batch file hangs up on:
[*] Waiting for device...
* daemon not running. starting it now *
* daemon started successfully *
That tells me that your computer doesnt have the latest motorola drivers installed. Download here:
If the batch displays any of the following:
.jar: Permission denied
failed on '/data/logger' - Permission denied
mkdir failed for /data/logger, File exists
Unable to chmod /data/logger: Operation not permitted
link failed File exists
/system/bin/sh: su: not found
Then you may have your device set as a USB Mass Storage device. You need to have it set as a media device in your usb settings. You should be able to tell by looking in the notification area while its plugged into your computer. It should also show up as 'Droid RAZR' on your computer rather than separate drive letters. It also needs to be in USB debug mode System Settings > Developer option > USB debugging
Of note, I also deleted all Previously configured Smart Actions. I'm not sure if this was needed, but it worked great after doing that.
The whole process should take around 10 minutes. If the batch file sticks at 'Cleaning up' for more than a couple of minutes, unlock your phone and see if there is a dialog on the screen asking for permission. If so, click 'Grant'
Hope that helps
