It requires setting up a Samba share in Linux and then access it from your device.

Has anyone tested this on a RAZR HD with the JB OTA?

Yes. No it does not work. No current root for JB HD. Have to go back to ICS and save root

So it never let me uninstall smart actions updates because I never had any to uninstall, after countless failure for various reasons it seemed, I factory reset and chose to not do the smart actions bit out of curiousity and it finally worked, not sure why and I've done my fair share of rooting, adb, etc, but thanks for the thread to read through and figure it out :D

No

Perhaps I misunderstood the purpose of this particular exploit somewhere along the way, but is it not specifically for those who installed the leaked OTA 4.1.2 update from VZW who are not currently rooted? That's where i'm at. I was not rooted before installing the 4.1.2 OTA update. I would now like to root. Is this the wrong method?

Yes, this root method is for those who installed the JB leak on their Razrs. However, the poster I was answering when I said no was asking if this would work for the Razr I.

I got to work on my second attempt. I am not sure why it didn't work the first time. However, it got seemingly stuck at step four on the "cleaning up" line. I looked at my phone and SuperSU was asking for root permission. When I allowed it, the script proceeded to finish. I didn't read that anyone else had to do this but it worked for me.

Just purchased a Droid RAZR Maxx HD and it came with version 4.1.1 (version 9.1.41.XT926) already installed. Can I root this version using the Windows link or MAC link listed in this thread?

Tried the Motofail2go link to root 4.1.1 jelly bean and root checker said I did not have root access. All drivers were updated, usb debbuging connected, connected as a media device, run batch file, and went through all commands on the computer screen. Last command said root was a success. Phone rebooted, but no root.

Anyone have any suggestions..

For the HD you have to revert back to ics to root.

You guys are awesome. You have way more patience than I. I found mysef getting aggrivated just reading the posts about other phones and what-not. My problem was, somebody un-installed my Motorola drivers. Who does that? And why....

My razr maxx xt912 would not want to root using the razr blade utility through windows. I originally did not keep root when updating OTA to JB4.1, and therefore re-rooted my razr. I followed directions to the T and after 6 times of trying to root I gave up because I kept receiving a response from the command prompt telling that there was no su binary file. After the exploit completed the steps I opened SU and it threw an error message stating that there was no binary update file found.

---- So, I decided to try this method ----

1. Made sure all USB drivers were updated
2. Selected USB Debugging
3. Initiated the Razr Blade Root Exploit Program

*** Note1 - This is being executed after a fresh install of JB Blur_Version.6.16.211.XT912.Verizon.en.US.zip ---- XT912 - Version 98.72.8

*** Note2 - I purposely left my razr maxx in USB Mass Storage Mode as to see if my theory would work, or brick, or burst into to flames.

4. At Step 2 it asks for the installation of SmartActions. (I did not install smartactions, nor did I update the app when it needed to be done.) I told the program to skip that part of rooting my phone.

5.After Finishing with Step 3 and "Cleaning Up" the SU icon pop-up and ask for root permissions "grant root". As I openened the SU program I was asked to update the su binary and this process executed without any hesitation; unlike the previous 6 failures.

I hope this can be of any help to the droidrzr forum fans/members
