Hello. Is there a thread for un-rooting after this process? Thanks.

Can someone please help? I'm trying to run this from my mac to unlock my Razr Maxx HD. This is what I get:
...
[*] Razr Blade: Motorola Droid Razr 4.1 Root Exploit (Windows version)
...
[*] Note: this will not work on Razr HD, Razr M, etc.
...

Did anyone else notice that the the user is trying to use the WINDOWS version on their MAC?
I saw that before I got to the "Razr Maxx HD" part.

You can't completely wipe root access, although you can make it appear not rooted and stock by using temporary unroot or by bricking via flashing ICS, using the unbrick tool, then using moto recovery to apply JB update.

You cannot completely remove the exploit unless you reflash the software, however there's currently no JB software to flash, just the update which isn't the same.

Huh? Sure you can. Use SuperSU's clean up root function. Grab the free version in the market and try it.

No matter what you do, there is a "ticker" that rooting changes which will forever indicate that at some time in the past your phone was rooted.

It is visible in Recovery mode.

Yea but that thing's broken. It shows that phones were rooted even when they've never been. It's very unreliable and if anyone ever tried to use that as an excuse to deny me a warranty claim I'd complain LOUDLY about it.

The other point about there being no way to reflash the JB build isn't entirely accurate, either. It's not EASY, but, I created a method in the House of Bionic that uses Matt's unbrick concept and takes it to a whole new level. When we had Bionic ICS leaks we used it a lot as a "mini-FXZ". The same could be done for your JB build if there was enough motivation.

I think some users aren't realizing there's a different forum for the HD's or that they're not compatible with software for the previous versions. I know I made that mistake when I first got mine 2 weeks ago and it took someone's post to make me realize that. I felt like an idiot lol

Rooting doesn't void your warranty. People assume it does because of the Chinese Telephone effect. People whom say it does have never read the 1 page warranty.

There is even a sticky by tucstwo that should answer any misconceptions about rooting and your warranty. I'd recommend everyone to read it, as when you pass along information like that that's incorrect, it just furthers the problem, preventing users from receiving accurate, fact based information.

I know....but that's the biggest fear people have about that stupid root checking thing. No one has been denied a warranty claim for being rooted. I've never personally worried about it. But when they added the extremely broken root checker in ICS people started panicking about root and what ifs. People need to relax. :)

I apologize, I wasn't posting that to be directed at you personally.

Whenever rooting and warranties come up, I do my best to inform anyone whom might read the thread about tucstwo's sticky thread :-)

No, I get it. No worries. I've had this conversation with many people ever since that stupid thing was added. There's widespread panic about it out there. I agree that they should do the reading as it will teach them a lot about this topic.

I should have stated why I was consideriing an un-root. Ever since I manually did the OTA to jelly Bean, my battery seems to have gone down hill. I guess I thought rooting might be of some help (I don't know why!) of course it wasn't.

More likely than not its startup apps... if that's not the case, if you use your phone a lot, i.e. screen on, battery will not last as long as you hope. I think you only get about 20hrs with screen on, which is still far greater than any phone on the market.

Do you have background apps running, such as social media, RSS feeds, forums apps, weather, etc? These all use data, and data, especially WiFi, is a power hog.

I rooted but once I tried to run a root app it said it was denied. I checked permissions, they were set to prompt/ask. I then tried to update SU. It said an update was available but when it tried to install the update it said "Superuser has been denied Superuser permissions". Any idea on how to fix?

I was going to be happy/upset if that worked. It did not. I guess I'll try to re-root it...

EDIT: I totally misread you! I thought you said, re-boot it. LMAO. Yes, good idea. I'll try that!

EDIT: RE-rooting has NOT fixed the problem. Superuser denies SU access to everything, including itself.

Installed, run, "Busybox has been denied Superuser permisions."

The permission denials are shown in the Superuser log, to include the denials to Superuser by Superuser. I'm so confused.
