I followed the directions to a "T" using my Lenovo laptop (company issued). I had no luck. After returning home from my business trip I decided to try again with my home laptop.
I downloaded the fresh Moto driver, used the correct USB cable, followed all directions, and success!!
Now if I can just get this hot spot working correctly

Ok so im really new to rooting, like this will be my first try, is there any preperations i need to do to make sure this goes smoothly and doesnt brick my phone. or is this file pretty much a one and done kind of root.
Just follow instructions. There is nothing this process could do to brick your phone. Worst case, it fails. Best case you are rooted.

You need to extract the zip file to your desktop and then run the bat file. Looks like you are just opening the zip and trying to run it without extracting it. That's why Adb is not recognized

Well, we can't help you if you can't or won't read and follow basic instructions.
1) You need to download and EXTRACT the entire Zip file. You CANNOT simply run the batch file without the related files. The FIRST error message in the output you posted shows you have not followed the first part of what is needed.
2) Once you have properly extracted the exploit, then run the batch file AFTER you have set up your phone exactly as instructed.
If you can't set up your phone to run the exploit then maybe you don't need root. This is basic stuff and the instructions are pretty simple
3) Once the phone is set and you run the exploit you should read the output. If it worked, it will tell you. You should download and install Voodoo Root Keeper too. It will also confirm if you are rooted.
Bottom line, this is easy, and there are a few of us following along to help you along. I'm not sure how much more we can offer short of a personal visit. :-)
