Thank you for the reply and sorry for me taking forever to reply again.
I see your post on the OP:
OTA Updater:
This ROM has OTA Updater installed. When an update is available, you will get a notification. You will then download the update using the app. Once downloaded, you will have to manually reboot into safe strap. The download location is sdcard/OTA-updater/Download/[filename].zip
Unfortunately I am not familiar enough with how Safestrap works to ensure I don't lose any data with this update. I want to attempt to write out step by step (from my understanding) on how to perform this update without losing any data or configuration that I currently have:
#1 - OTA updater downloads ZIP file to sdcard/OTA-Updater/download/
#2 - Reboot into safestrap
#3 - In Boot Options ensure the ROM Slot where my current Aviator install exists is selected (for reference mine is slot 1)
#4 - **This is where I get nervous due to lack of information and experience on my part** On Safestrap main menu select Install and select the aviator_3.0.4.zip file?
#5 - Phone will do its "magic" and I will now have the update with no loss of current config or apps or data?
Sorry again for the questions...just very new to this and its hard to find specifics on my situation.
Also, as far possibilities with this ROM are we able to customize the LED color for different notifications? And finally, when raising or lowering the volume with the rocker, is there a way to get the upgraded volume selection button where you can select "Notification Volume", "Media Volume", etc from a single menu when pressing the volume rocker? Not really sure how to explain it but my friend who has another ROM is able to hit the volume rocker then press symbol on the far right of the pop-up that opens another menu to change volumes for all other sounds on the phone.
Finally, as far as crashes go I've only run into one situation where the phone will lock up on me. While switching back and forth from Google Hangouts to switching the screen off the screen will go blank and the buttons on the bottom will stay illuminated. Not sure how to capture a bug report of the crash but I'd love to know how so I can help you continue to improve this incredible ROM.
Thanks again for an awesome ROM and sorry for the million questions

I'm just about to take off on a flight, so I can't write too much now. It sounds like you want to try a dirty flash in order to try and keep apps and data. It is recommended that you wipe before flashing the update to make sure everything goes smoothly, however, you can try a dirty flash which involves installing the update straight over your existing ROM slot.
In order to dirty flash, download the file, go into safestrap, activate the appropriate ROM slot (if you are tunning Aviator you are already on it and can miss this step), then install and select the zip file.
If you dirty flash, I would just be prepared to have to wipe just in case something goes a miss.
You can use titanium backup to save and restore apps and data you have. That way if something does go a miss, you can do a clean wipe and restore apps.
Have a safe flight!
Alright...Im fine with backing everything up using Titanium Backup so lets go with that and do the recommended Full Wipe method.
I'll try my steps again
#1 - OTA updater downloads ZIP file to sdcard/OTA-Updater/download/
#2 - Reboot into safestrap
#3 - In Boot Options delete ROM Slot 1 (where I have my current Aviator ROM installed)
#4 - In Boot Options select the new Aviator.3.0.4.zip and install like I did for my first install.
#5 - Do I need to mess with any of the permissions, cache, etc?
Then follow the rest of the instructions you've outlined for a first install about letting the phone settle and so on.
No rush on this so I'll just chill until I hear from you or if anyone else wants to chime in I'll see where that takes me. Currently backing up all system data + app data.

rIf you're coming off Aviator 3.0.3, I give a dirty flash a 98% chance of being OK. It wasn't a huge update and people have dirty flashed this update and came out fine. Its up to you though
