you can put the bootanimation.zip file in /data/local/ with rw-r-r permissions

the sound goes in /system/media/ as bootsound.ogg with the same permissions.

if you leave the bootsound.ogg file out you will have no sound. or remove/rename the one that is there.

you can also edit the bootanimation.zip file, in it is a description text file you can edit just remove the line that references the sound file

look at the boot animations section for tons of boot anis

I built a Tasker task to do all the file moving for me :)

How big is your ROM slot? Could it be that the ROM slot is full? If you don't have it at 3gb then you can back up the ROM slot, delete and recreate the ROM slot with the bigger size, then restore your back up to the bigger slot. Hope that helps!

Mine was no doubt set at 1GB. Also been having problems with GPS lately....just does a random search for GPS in the task bar?

You may have an app that uses GPS constantly..... that would cause the "random GPS search"

... telekinetically tapped, tenaciously traversing the terrain ...

I use truck stop apps all the time and they rely greatly on GPS .... so it updates GPS on a regular basis.....

Google plus and maps will also update location on a regular basis.....

Does it do it even if location is disabled? (It shouldn't)

Any idea why i would not be able to access logcat on this ROM?  I keep getting this error:

"Unable to open the log device '/dev/log/main': No such file or directory"

I've checked the build.prop and logcat isn't disabled there, i've tried accessing as root as well, but neither worked.  Anyone else seeing this?

EDIT: Second question, *228 seems to be crashing the dialer app as well.  Not sure if it just doesn't like that i'm on a home extender, or if it's an issue with the dialer itself.  (I was attempting to use logcat to diagnose this, and thats when i found out that it wasn't working)

EDIT2: Tested with a new rom on a different slot and *228 didn't seem to crash the dialer, however it did load up a different screen that let me know that the SIM card was installed and already had the updated data.

EDIT3: It's been a while since i've done a full wipe/reinstall.  Since i'm long overdue on that anyway, i'll just do that first and see if the issue persists.

Sorry, I just saw this post. I haven't seen that before but let me know if the reinstall doesn't work :)

curious why you are dialing *228.  that was activation for phones previous to having sim cards.  Not needed anyway now AFAIK.

Yeah i had actually never tried it in the ~2 years that i've had my razr, just learned now that it wasn't necessary.  I have an in-home VZW 3g extender and for some reason, was only getting 1x and not 3G so things like MMS were failing on it.  I was able to get that working however.

Is there a way to get the VOICE COMMAND that is available on stock JB razr into this ROM?  The BT voice dialing service on this ROM is really so bad as to be useless.  I went to stock side (Safestrap) and tried BT voice dialing and it came up with 2 choices (google search or voice command) and I chose voice command it worked well.  As a truck driver I am legally required to use voice dialing... help!

Unfortunately, I don't have any quick for you. This ROM is based on the stock one and I didn't mess with BT at all so it is surprising that it isn't working. I use BT with my car and I can voice call my contacts which are entered into the BT system. I will look into the files and see if there is anything that doesn't match up.

'Voice command' is in the market. Redownload to fix a glitch, perhaps?
