Well, here's a sad update to my post from earlier. I had to reboot into stock to check something, and after I did so I rebooted into Aviator. Well, everything seemed fine for a little while. Then I made a phone call, got off the call, and hit the poewr button to cut the screen off. Well, I decided to cut the screen back on again to check another app, but all I got was a screen flicker. The lockscreen wouldn't come up at all. I tried power-cycling the phone with the 3-finger salute, but I could never get the rom to startup again, so I had to boot back into stock again, which is where I'm at now.

 

Any ideas? Doing a cache/dalvik wipe from recovery didn't have any effect.

GPS - Fixed

 

So I downloaded the GPS Status app, ran it, hit the fix button etc, no change. Fixed permissions, rebooted, wiped cache/dalvik. Now it works. Looks like I don't have to go back to JB 4.1 afterall. Thanks for the info!

Bah, yea, phone crashes for me too. deal breaker.

 

EDIT: To be more specific, if I attempt to make or receive a call, the phone process crashes, and the telephony service appears to restart. Everything else is working rather nicely.

Did this randomly start happening, or was it immediately after installation? If it was the latter, try another reinstall making sure you delete the ROM slot. There shouldn't be any reason the phone would crash other than a bad install

Actually I saw the other post about the phone process and realized I hadn't made a call, called my work phone and the droid phone crashed phone process. Was at work so had to wipe and go back to another rom I've been using as a daily.

That's interesting. How long had you been running the ROM before this happened? I'm guessing you made/received calls before this happened?

Took mine a week if I recall right and it happened when I got a phone call while watching a Facebook video

I'll keep an eye on it, but it seems to me to be one of those odd occurrences that might be an app compatibility issue. I didn't change anything with the phone apks so I can't think of what would have caused it.

Yea made calls on previous rom but not on this one. I'd previously downloaded another 4.2.2 rom that gave me trouble with sms, so tried this one. I'm on emergency call until tomorrow then I'll re flash and see if trouble continues.

Sounds good, let me know how you get on! Definitely delete and recreate the ROM slot.

LOL I always set up a 3gb data partition so I don't keep more than stock and 1 custom running.

I had the same thing happen to me also with the phone crash, and started on 1.03 so I updated to 1.04 with a clean and fresh install and has happened a few times. Once I do a reset its okay, but but a little worrying. Never had it on blur, and only started a little over a week ago.

I had the phone crash as well on 1.03 (while using facebook) but since ive upgraded to 1.04 all has been WELL! idk what you did ZK but this is the first time AOKP has compared to blur on battery life. Excellent improvement!

I have been holding back from updating to AOKP from BLUR.  Yesterday I decided to make the jump and I am happy I did.  Much better performance and battery life, hate that I waited this long now.

Ditto this. I'm having pretty good success with AOKP myself. Battery life seems good minus the OS usage seeming a bit high in the stats but that could be my fault due to an App going rogue on me.

I decided not to reinstall Go Contacts EX this time around, maybe it is being quirky with AOKP 4.2.2. I'll stick with the standard Contacts/Phone app, as well as the standard Messaging instead of Go SMS Pro, and see if I have better luck.

Just a heads up. I rock with Go Contacts EX w/ it's dialer and have had no issues with the phone crashing you mention. Just wanted to let you know in case you want/need to look in another direction or app possibility.
