I'm hoping you guys can help me out.  I'm trying to install the AOKP version, and after installing the rom, and then gapps over it, I get a black screen at boot up.  The phone will stay like that for indefinitely until I hard reset it.  I followed the directions described (slot 2, install gapps before reboot).  I've tried deleting the slot, and re-installing.  Also tried to fix using the 'Fix permissions' option.  I've searched around the forum/net, and can't really find a solution.

my guess on that is probably a corrupted download of the ROM..... try re-downloading and then flash again......

I agree with John the hillbilly.... when it doesn't boot at all, b bad download. Open the download to ensure its good before installing. I usually do that pm a PC, but you can do it on your RAZR. Good luck. <br /><br />Sent from my Droid Razr Maxx using TapaTalk 2<br /><br />

I have got to work real hard to find something to fault with the ROM.

I am an Aviator AOPK fan!

The AOKP version of this ROM is quite good.

I was on 'Buttered' for a few days and could never get decent battery out of it.

I tried to let the phone settle for a few days , to no avail...the Kernel in this ROM is much better at battery longevity.

 

The only 'annoyance' i can find has to do with the keyboard and the MMS function.

When typing in portrait mode, the text background is 'black' allowing good contrast so you can see the text well.

In landscape mode the test box background turns 'opaque' for me somewhat obscuring the text being typed.

 

This occurs with the stock MMS app and the stock AOPK keyboard and the 'old' ICS keyboard app that I really liked...

becuase the stock MMS app does not have an '<return> key performs a line feed, does not sends the text' function, I loaded Go SMS.

I get the same results with GO SMS and the stock AOPK keyboard.

 

My present workaround is the 'stock jellybean' keyboard downloaded from Google Play which presents a 'black' background in landscape mode when texting.

 

Am I missing a setting somewhere that I can tweak?

I have changed the background to flat white on the next update which will fix that. Not too sure when that will be, but hopefully sooner rather than later

I'm finding the battery life on the Blur test build not as good as before, so I will be removing some of the tweaks I added

Not to be a pain, but I do not have that option. No worries because Go SMS does....the opaque text window thing was the big issue and it may be fixed at a later date.

I'm just happy that it is not only happening for me.

Which one? Blur or AOKP? They are different

Also, you could just unzip the ROM and then go to system/media and get bootanimation.zip and bootsound.ogg (Blur only) and then you can put them in any ROM in system/media and set permissions to rw- r-- r--. Hope that helps!

I dirty flashed latest Blur test build and after some intial sluggishness and lag, everything seems to be running fine but for some reason with this and prior builds, Skyvi doesn't pop up even though (checked box) for incoming texts. Not sure what's up with that. Battery life may be a little less on this latest test build - hard to gauge that so far as it's only been a day running.

Hmmm it seemed to be working fine for me...... save 1 minor issue, chrome wouldn't open until after the 3rd reboot

That's a odd issue It should've worked fine, but battery life was awful!

Battery life is always awful for me.... no matter what ROM I'm on..... (beyond heavy use.... leans more toward extreme use) I typically have 70% or more voice calls tho..... LOL

i owe you an apology capt'n, i didn't see how update would work, i dl'd your test (3.0.3) decided to try a dirty install, wiped cache & delvik 2-3x installed rom, theme it all went well even applied the simple batt you posted recently, i copied the bootmation from pink into the /system/media but forgot to change permis' and it all went wrong, wiped again including system re installed and wala. haven't seen the batt degradation you reported, i typically get 2.5 - 3+ days from a charge on your rom. (keep those radios off when not in use, boys and girls) not bad since i got six hours off the first charge out o' the box. yours is the first rom i can install and not have to switch back to rooted stock to do something, like use the camera. + it's smooth and fast.

 

about goog voice aokp - when i use it, it makes calls through some random # not my gv #, i can revert back to an earlier b'up from my gingerbread days and it works fine in blur, but not in aokp, i suspect it's something in the data restore. thanks again for all you do for my razr - a loyal fan.
