Hey zk is there a version of smart actions that works for aokp? I noticed is not included didn't know if there was a compatible version.

sent from my Droid RAZR Maxxfrom another dimension...

I don't think so, but I haven't done a thorougher search.

I do recommend the "Tasker" app though. It is like Smart Actions on steroids. It can be a little daunting at first, but it gets easier to use when reading the tasker wiki.

When I run the Hotspot it does not turn on Wifi. If I turn on Wifi and then run the Hotspot it will turn off Wifi. Data is always on.

Ok, yes, WiFi should be off when using the hotspot. Are all your WiFi settings correct with the right passwords, etc? Perhaps try wiping cache and dalvik cache too.

ZK, I need help!   My proximity sensor went heywire on me and started changing settings all over the place before I could stop it and power it down.   I'm still on 3.02.  Now when I click on the menu button, everything is in some foreign language which I cannot even recognize!

Is it possible to get a screen shot by screen shot from you or someone that will show me the order of what to press to get to the language choice selection and correct this?  What a disaster!  I'm sure that this was my phone and had nothing at all to do with the rom.

Thanks.

What on earth did you do to get to this point? :p I'm pretty sure there is only Spanish and English languages on 3.0.2.

But to change languages, got to settings>language and input. (Number 17 from the very top). Then "Language" (The first option under language and input). Then English (The first option under language). Hope that helps!

I can absolutely assure you that this is not Spanish.  Appears to be perhaps a Slovic language.      As far as what I did, it was to simply end a call.  From there, the screen took on a life of its own.  I know that this is a proximity sensor issue.  I had returned a previous XT-912 under warranty for the same exact reason.   Of course I went through 2 different phones before VZW sent me one that worked ("supposedly") correctly.  Now I am experiencing the same thing again.

Given that I have rooted, I wonder if I can still send it back for a replacement before the warranty officially expires in June.

Although I haven't backed up recently, I am thinking of just going back to my last SS backup and reinstalling from there.  But first I'll make a backup of the device, just the way it is.  Then if I need to decipher any other screen, at least I can figure them out from the older backup.   I'll try to save all of my settings to screen shots on the PC using the SDK app to take the shots.  Do you think that this is a good approach or should I do something different?

Thanks by the way for getting back to right away :)

Quick follow up.  I think that the settings were changed thru the Apex Launcher.   When I press the home menu button, none of the choices appear to be anything normal to me.

Resolved!   I think.   I just restored the data file for Apex from my last Titanium Pro backup.  Rebooted and back on home country soil again!   I felt like I had nothing to lose by trying that.  I'm glad that I did because it gave me back some app icon settings on the home pages that I had been meaning to restore.

Good to know, always wipe cache and dalvik after anything you do that may deal with the system. If I flash a rom I wipe, flash wipe, setup, and wipe again. lol

Tasker is a solid app.  You will also need a free app from the play store called "Secure Settings" if you want tasker to handle additional functions (primarily turning GPS on and off).  Llama is also quite good if you want a free and easier to use alternative to Smart Actions.

So Tasker has the most options but costs a few bucks and has a bit of a learning curve.

Llama is free and has more functionality than Smart Actions.  Also easier to configure than Tasker but does not have all of the functionality.

Smart Actions are...not an option on this ROM :)

IMO Tasker is a must have app.  I have anywhere from 25-30 profiles active all the time and the battery effect is minimal, maybe 3% at the end of the day, and the battery saving that you can achieve with just a few simple profiles far out weigh the loss.  Combine in Secure Settings and the possibilities are endless as to what you can automate with your phone.

Yea before I got into flashing roms, when I had just learned about tasker, I would sit around and just try to find new ways that I could implement it into my daily uses.  I came up with everything from simple stuff like "turn off xxxx when screen goes off", all the way up to if my phone is stolen it will lock up when it receives a special text message and then it takes the GPS coordinates and the time and battery life and sends it back to the number that sent the text, then if you put the wrong password in three times it takes a silent picture with the front camera and then emails the picture to me.

basically you can do away with security apps and battery saving apps and just replace them with tasker

Dude that is seriously impressive. Much respect for coming up with that ingenious plan.

Edit: All this Tasker interest gave me an idea. I started a thread

Do you think you could post a list of the ones you have come up with or the ones that you actually use? I'm thinking about getting tasker but I'd like to know that I'm going to get the right benefits out of it.
