Does anyone Know what to do on the updated Aviator 3.0.0 to get Beats to work correctly? Should I remove the stock Audio Effects.apk from the system or just go into settings>sound>audio effects and simply "turn it off"? or just leave it on and alone?

Just leave it alone. Use Beats to change audio settings. It should work fine :)

If it isn't, what is it doing?

I d/l'ed the latest Aviator which ZKK fixed Talk/Beats/YouTube. I d/l'ed to my phone, opened the Zip in ES File Manager, tapped the System.apk file, installed it directly and poof, Beats worked like a charm without a reboot even.....

Did you do all the required reboots as mentioned in the instructions? If so, try reflashing. The only apks that were changed were YouTube, gtalk, and settings so play store shouldn't be affected :)

deleted slot create a new slot (1) reinstalled waited rebooted :( still force closes... I will try again when I get home from work..thx

The Stock Audio Effects.apk is still interfering with the sound and putting it's stock bass boost on top of Beats and it sounds horrid. I didn't want to risk uninstalling the stock Audio Effects as it may effect beats, so I went into settings>sound>audio effects and just tapped the "switch" at the top-right corner of the screen and that simply "turns the effects off".

After this, I went to Beats Audio under Settings and played with effects while Google Play Music was playing my Avicii Levels Music Podcast, and it worked like a charm! ^_^

It sounds magnificent on a good set of DJ Headphones (I Use SeinHouser 280HDs [~$110 at NewEgg.com]) with Bass Boost enabled with a "slight effect" and a custom equalizer enabled (+2.5, +2.3, +2.2, +0.0, +0.5, +1.0)

EDIT: I have found one tiny issue, or maybe not even an issue, just an inconvenience. When in Google play if you hit the settings menu button on the bottom-left of your phone and then click "equalizer" while playing music, it will go to stock Audio Effects.apk settings. Not a big issue, just play your music, press "Home", then go into "System Settings" and select "Beats Audio" and experiment while your music is playing.

3.0.0

Be sure you are on the Official .16 Kernel from the Jelly Bean OTA [NOT Ice Cream Sandwich or the Jelly Bean Leak From XMas 2012]
Be sure you are using SafeStrap's latest edition [3.11]
Download Fresh Aviator 3.0.0 Copy [Get the one marked "3/20/2013"]
Copy the Aviator 3.0.0 .ZIP file to your SD Card
Boot into Safestrap 3.11
Delete the existing ROM Slot
Create new ROM Slot
Go into "Wipe" and Factory Reset Twice, Wipe Cache Twice, Wipe Dalvik Cache Twice, and Wipe System Twice (IN THAT ORDER!)
Go into "Install" and click the Aviator 3.0.0 .ZIP file on your EXTERNAL SD CARD (It CANNOT be the internal SD!)
After install is completed, click "Wipe Cache/Dalvik" and run TWICE
Click "Reboot System" and allow first boot 5-10 mins to complete, then allow phone to idle for another 5 mins
Reboot phone and allow a full, thorough boot, then allow 5-10 mins of idle before going through phone setup
Reboot immediately after setting up phone and accounts, and allow another 5-10 min idle after boot completes
ENJOY AVIATOR 3.0.0!!!
NEXT TIME, BE SURE TO READ ENTIRE OP (ORIGINAL POST) AND FOLLOW EVERY SINGLE LITTLE DETAILED INSTRUCTION

This is exactly what I did and I have never had a Force Close/Freeze of any app at any time. This is a perfectly stable everyday use ROM!

Good job by the way ZK :P

Thanks, I will remove Audio Effects and change the buttons to lead to Beats when I get the time. :)

  • Delete the ROM slot you want to use.
  • Recreate the ROM slot with desired slot size.
What would a person new to ROMing pick as a desired slot size. I plan on using this as my daily driver.

2GB for your daily driver ROM slot, and then you can have 2 slots of 1GB each for testing/other ROMs :)

Speaking of... My dumbass had initially put this in a 1GB slot and I'm of course getting all the "low memory" messages and having to move apps around to internal storage a lot.

So my question since this is undoubtably become my favorite daily driver. Can I simply make a full Nandroid and re-create a 2GB slot in another slot and RESTORE to there?

I'm guessing I can but figured I would throw this out there for discussion anyhoo.

Yes, going from a smaller partition to a larger one will work just fine.

Thanks and confirmed! Just did it and all seems well and I now have freed up data/app space per "Settings/Storage" report! :) :)

Since Tapatalk was down on the forum all day yesterday, my phone usage was also down. But not bad battery use for an OG Razr!

Since this is the only stable ROM with cool features like Beats, I actually use a full 3GB Partition for it, smooth as butta :3

Good Idea, May be my next leap as I have lot's of apps sitting in Titanium backup which I've just pick and chose in the past on what to restore since we're limited with the Rom slot partitions. I've monkeyed with a couple other 'recent' Roms and haven't found any that (beat) -pardon the pun- Aviator! :)

Ive found many with similar features for the JB Leak from XMas 2012 but Aviator is so far the KING on the new OTA!!!

Running this on my verizon razr xt912. Everything runs beautifully except one major bug i cant seem to fix. The camera always crashes even with third party apps cam just doesnt work. droidlight as well does not work but i have a feeling that has to do with the first problem.

Yeah, Gmail crashes instantly with no error. I'm on SS 3.11, .16 kernel, and followed install instructions exactly.
