Just checked w/CPU Spy, it's showing plenty of deep sleep (and, oddly, nothing above 600 Mhz in the past 16 hours).
No worry about Beats, the only time I use the phone for anything that might require audio, it's bluetoothed to my car stereo and playing old time radio shows. Which is not something where I can tell much difference in the sound. I guess there is only so much you can do with a 60 or 70 year old recording.
Sorry, I misunderstood you, I thought you had already changed kernels to order to use the ROM
I would definitely recommend it at this point since at this stage my week is very busy and deving gets the back seat at the moment.
OK, let me make sure I have this all straight. I can update to the OTA and it sounds like battery life is worse than Aviator. I can accept OTA and install a utility to change kernals and regain battery life. Will I lose root when I accept OTA? I would assume I would. Can I run Rootkeeper and then re-root after the OTA? I do not want to lose root as custom ROM are the best but I want to see what Verizon JB has to offer. Best options ???
Yes, battery life on the stock .16 OTA will be worse than custom ROMs. But you can still take the .16 OTA and then switch to the .8 kernel in order to use Aviator until I can get a .16 based Aviator update out. Use this to switch kernel:

but it basically means that you can use Matt's 1.90 utility to get the .16 update. It isn't too hard to take this update, but if you get stuck go to the chat room. There are great people in there who are always willing to help
