I'm also convinced that using the utility to OC for now is not only useless but has been making my phone lock up - not wake up at times, making me have to hard/reset it. So I've dirty flashed 2.0.2Test back overtop and eliminated OCing with the utility this time and all has been well for aprox 24 hrs now. - Just reporting

For those of you on the soak, I thought I could build a quick .16 build, but funky stuff was happening which I don't really have time for at the moment.

One the bright side, our great mattlgroff has a utility to run our ROMs on .16 which I can confirm works great just like all of his other stuff :)

Check it out and be sure to thank him!

To me, this implies that current JB ROMs, such as the world famous Aviator, will run on the new kernel. Is that the case?

Well isn't that cool, I'll have to find some time over the weekend to give it a try.
I would have thought that the old ROMs wouldn't work on the new kernel.

I think this writes the boot.img so its not quite the new kernel

Yes, lets make this clear since Matt didnt really (sorry Matt)....his tool reverts you back to the JB kernel (98.72.8) from xmas eve so we can run the current ROM's.

As soon as they are fixed, you will want the new kernel (98.72.16)

its a cheater type of fix that gets us by for the moment :)

Exactly! :)

For those of us still on the xmas leak, should we update to .16 and use the utility for now? Or would it just be easier/smarter to stay on the xmas leak until you have an update for .16?

Is it safe to assume that your update will include the correct kernel also?

No, Aviator will be built for the .18 ROM that you will need to update to or flash back to if you used Matts utility or Dual boot

So then am I mistaken by saying they will need to flash .16 back??? If so, I apologize :)

Your 'no' answer was the one that I expected, since all the current ROMs require the correct kernel to already be in place, or they don't work.

So ZK, out of curiosity, how are you getting around that problem? Is there an 'update the kernel' utility in your future?
