What's is Gapps
Google apps, they are flashed with roms that don't come with them, ie maps gmail etc.
Make sure you do have proper root access. after rooting did you download supersu from the playstore and install it and was sucessful in updating the binaries? Flashify has to have root access. You can also flash the .img file for recovery through fastboot. IE: fastboot flash recovery [recovery image filename and extention] again do not let it boot normally. Unplug the usb cable and hold the power key until it shuts off. Then use the power key + vol down key to get back into bootloader, use the vol down key to select recovery and the vol up key to execute. If your screen stays blank going into recovery keep repeating the boot to recovery steps until you get it to go (may take several times) once in to recovery go into settings first thing and disable the screen lock. That seems to help with the blank screen issue. If you didn't have proper root when you reboot back to system twrp will prompt you to install supersu. Do that and after boot it will remind you to install it from the play store.

Yes I purchased supersu pro
You downloaded both parts. SuperSU and the pro key? Download root checker from the playstore and make sure root is properly installed. I have used flashify several times with out a problem. Try again or use the fastboot method to flash twrp.

Done and done I'll keep trying when the broken android guy comes up with the exclamation mark I hold down the volume up key and power key together for a few seconds then let go of the power key correct?
You can use the power key and hold it until the phone shuts off or there is an option in the stock recovery for normal reboot. Then flash the twrp recovery again. It is after you flash on the first reboot you don't want to go through a normal boot. If you get the stock recovery (dead android with the execlaimation mark it doesn't matter you have to flash again. Don't give up you will make it.

i went to the link mentioned above for the flash image and i downloaded it.. but when i click decompress and start flashing it says the compressed file you selected does not contain any supported file ive downloaded all from 2.7.1 up to 2.8.5 and they all say the same thing when i try to flash it

just download the .img file and flash that. you can rename it to twrprecovery or what ever helps you with typing the command as long as you leave the extention as .img so if you rename the file to twrprecovery.img the command line for fastboot would be fastboot flash recovery twrprecovery.img
it does have to be in the same folder as your fastboot commands.

No.
Download the platform tools from this thread. All the instructions are there. It is flashed through a command prompt window.
