Hello Android world, I have a new problem that I am seeking help with. I was attempting to upgrade my system from android v4.4.4 running Safestrap v3.65 to Android Lollipop Safestap 3.75. While attempting this I had started the process by uninstaling the old version of safestrap and removing the recovery system however I had forgotten to place a copy of the new safestrap apk on my phone and immediately after I completed the uninstall my phone restarted and now it only flashes the moto symbol and then goes to a blank black screen. Plus on top since it will not turn on I can not enable the usb connection to access either the eternal or internal drives. What I am looking for is a way to manually unlock the microusb connection so that I can re install safestrap. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

If the system is not starting up properly then there is no way to "force" the USB connection..... You are going to need to restore back to stock first... I recommend using the House Of Moto.....

Once that is done you can go thru the steps to reinstall safestrap, etc

After bricking my phone while trying to install cm12 using ss 3.73, I used the droid razr utility xt912 to try and get my phone back. I was able to get jb 4.1.2 back, and even downloaded the latest ota. I couldn't get root or safestrap to work via the utility so I accessed root via Kingo Root. At this point, I went to download safestrap when I noticed there was a new version 3.75, so I downloaded the apk and installed the recovery. And here is where the problem started... On initial reboot, following the motorola logo, the new splash screen appears for approximately 10 seconds then the screen goes black, rather than booting into 4.1.2. I tried to reboot the system and touching the menu icon to enter SS gives me an oversized boot options and backup screen, but i am unable to see an entire screen to make selections. I tried to reboot again, this time touching the search icon to enter normal power up and I just get a black screen. Please don't tell me that I've finally killed off old reliable. All help is greatly appreciated.

going black after the boot logo and animation usually means you need to wipe cache and dalvik....

Improper screen resolution in safestrap means you are using the wrong one for your device .....

You will probably need to "nuke and repave" again.... Then use the safestrap that CMH linked to....

Safestrap 3.75 was released by stargo specifically for flashing 5.x roms such as CM12. It is fully compatible with 4.x roms also. It's available here;

I can get into fastboot, but using Droid RAZR Utility XT912 to flash back to stock doesn't work as it originally did. Forgive me, but as I'm relatively new to unbricking I'm not sure how else to do this other than the utility. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated (please see my original post #3 above)

That's because you took the OTA and are now trying to downgrade. Here's a link to the last version of Matt's utility. I believe it contains the latest firmware.

If it does not, there are links for the firmware in the forum and you can use Sam's House of Moto to flash it.
Also, I'm not sure if razrblade still works with this version, but saferoot does. Just search the forum for a link to that too.

Hell, I didnt know what to say to that comment....first they slam HoM which has been a godsend for the masses and of course developed by one of our esteemed staff, and doesnt have anything to do with SafeStrap and then they seem to ask for whats already posted previously.

Great first post for a noob.....Go figya?!?!?!!?
