finally got Jellybean rooted (had to wait on a new phone), but stoked to start testing (although I'm not ashamed to say, I'm waiting on the Cyanogen)

ROM is awesome so far. Really fast. My only issue is that the GPS takes a very long time to get a fix. Sometimes 2 minutes or more. I tested it in open areas and in areas that i had previously gotten very fast fixes. It does get there eventually, just takes a while. Sometimes it helps if i toggle Gps on/off. I saw that another JB ROM had a mod in it for faster GPS fixes. Any idea what that mod is? Maybe just a build.prop tweak that we can do without flashing a new build?

This has worked well for me, it allows you to reset the GPS satellite cache and if I'm having trouble I just do that, 10 seconds later I have a lock.

Anyone else having tethering issues? I can not get it to tether using built in app. I tried Wifi tether and that did not work either. Ugh.

I appreciate the link! Just gave it a try and sadly didn't help at all. Tried a few times. The issue seems unrelated to the cache.

Some times the GPS issues aren't with the phone, rather it is with the satellites. If one of the satellites you need to use is "sick" it could take a while. Also, if you turn GPS on in a place that is farther away than the last time you turned it on it will take a while to sync, as it has to reacquire new satellite maps and timing.

At least that is how GPS worked for the ones in your car when I took a course in college a few years back. I am not sure how our phones handle it.

It's still the same way, hence the cache clearing, makes grab all new ones instead of searching in vain for old ones.

Thanks much!

I tried it, thought that was it, doesn't work. Says "checking subscription" then says call customer service for assistance
