I am trying to downgrade to gain root, am i correct in thinking that the 183.46.15 can't be downgraded? I haven't been using my xt926 for some time now and know that this version is not rootable, but wasn't sure if it wasn't downgradable too

So i think it was because i was attached via a usb 3.0 port, which I always forget that i have on my computer. I got it to downgrade to kda20.62-10.1, but it will not install recovery, or even ask if I want to or try to install superSu, while the script is running, just flashes image and says hit any key to continue and re boots.. I put the recovery image in the folder, but nothing happens. I also totally erased the phone, which i was going to do anyway...but upon re boot it want to install new software update that i know I do not want, since I want to root the phone again.

I'm pretty sure you should change the filename to recovery.img .....
No.
Open Sams script and see the commands he is using...
He can't. It's not recognizing his recovery img so it's not adding the commands to the script to flash it. That code is in java.

I need to see the log of when you first ran the java part of this to generate the scripts. Did you add recovery AFTER running the script generation? If so, um, yea, no.

The other thing is your phone will not boot recovery using this process. It'll flash it but if you try to have it boot recovery for you it'll fail and you'll have to reflash things to fix it. Not all phone support the method i use for booting recovery, and the 2012 phones do not. Allow it to flash, and tell it NO to installing SuperSU. Just boot into recovery manually.
