Domo arigato gaishemas,

Thank you very much thamks in advance (from our toddler). You helped save some baby pictures. Verizon already has a warranty replacement on the way out but I am not sure if we will use it, this worked perfectly. Droid Razr M was stuck in a boot loop, and after days of trying, we finally got to the fastboot screen by holding down the volume down and power until it started to reboot and held down the volume down. Couldent even get it to turn off without doing power and vol down plugged into the wall...

So I did not see any lists of command prompt text where it went perfectly and saved userdata. If you were looking for that here you go:

Hello,

Firstly, HoM and DroidRzr has always been an absolute GREAT resource. This site has helped me with so many phones, you are THE ABSOLUTE BEST.

My XT912 had problems a few months ago, I talked to Spainter and we decided that my screen was going out. I decided to try and clean up the hardrive of the phone but I seem to have a few questions/problems.

History, phone was rooted and used safestrap on 98.72.165.xt912. I used an app called Motomizer (which was part IC and part JB, but literature implied was fine to use with JB, this might have been my flaw). I unstalled Motomizer. Later, I decided to flash factory just to clean up using HoM.

When viewed by computer, the phone hardrive still has pic, app - shouldn't HoM with wipe user data selection have removed this?  I was wondering if this is a memory partition issue associated with Motomizer. Additionally, I was confused when I saw the error: cannot load 'cdrom' in the HoM portion. OK, I'm just hoping that someone will tell I made a silly mistake and help me fix the problem since this was a really good phone for me.

Thank you in advance.

Per your request for flash problem:

It should have wiped that, but, it didn't seem to want to in your case.  Could be the internal memory was not wiped with the userdata command.  I've never owned a 912 so I don't know how it handles that.  I'd try a factory data reset from recovery and see if that nukes it.  Otherwise, you'll have to delete it all by hand.  Good times on that.  The cdrom thing, I'd ignore that.  It's a useless partition anyway and doesn't really change.

THANK YOU, Thank You, thank you...

My RAZR MAXX HD was stuck at the Android Eye and would not do anything.  I tried everything available including the Recovery boot, Factory Image, conversations with Verizon tech support, and Motorola tech support (both of which were useless and frustrating).  I should have started here.  Following your instructions carefully I've got my phone back.  I only wish I could have the time back that I spent trying to fix it in other ways.

Thanks again for your efforts on this, it works!

You can't downgrade with a locked bootloader.  The exploit for unlocking was patched in .15. I had someone say kingo can root .15 but its a tethered root. You might also do a search for hydrogen peroxide root. I have heard that it works for some but has bricked some as well.  Trying to unlock while rooted with hydrogen peroxide results in a perma brick. I have not used either of the mentioned methods Good luck.

Hi all,

Yesterday, after connecting my bluetooth headset to my Droid Razr HD Maxx, all my apps (Google, Homescreen, Facebook, etc.) kept crashing. I thus rebooted my phone, and upon reboot, it then became stuck on the red Motorola logo. None of the options in the boot menu work for me except the Fastboot (all others just return me to the red logo). I thus tried House of Moto, but was unsucessful. Here is the requested info.

-Model of phone
XT926 (Verizon Motorola Droid Razr HD Maxx)
-Exact system version the phone was on before flashing (4.1.2 is NOT a version)
Not 100% sure on this one. I had the latest OTA version of Android, which I believe is KitKat 4.4.2. Let me know if you need other versions.
-Exact filename of the FXZ you are attempting to flash
VZW_XT926_4.4.2-KDA20.62-10.1_CFC_1FF.xml
-The text of the AP Fastboot mode

AP Fastboot Flash Mode (S)

-Details of everything you've "tried"

After House of Moto failed, I tried using RSD Lite 6.1.6 with the same FXZ, except I removed the "getvar" line from the .xml file. Unfortunately, it failed on the GPT partition update. Subsequently, I tried the RSD Flasher 2.8, but encountered the same issue.

-Any other pertinent information that will help us diagnose and fix your problem.

My phone is not rooted and is running the OTA Verizon firmware.

If you were on the latest build and you are not unlocked you can't flash the VZW_XT926_4.4.2-KDA20.62-10.1_CFC_1FF.xml.  You will have to flash the

VZW_XT926_4.4.2-KDA20.62-15.1_CFC_1FF.xml firmware. Also the usual checks: Flashing using the cable that came with the phone (Motorola cable), You are using a usb 2.0 port directly from the computer not a hub. If you make these checks and it still fails then you have probably have had a hardware failure of the memory on the motherboard in the phone.

Thanks for the input. I could not find a download for "VZW_XT926_4.4.2-KDA20.62-15.1_CFC_1FF.xml", but I did find "VZW_XT926_4.4.2-KDA20.62-15.1_1FF.xml.zip", which I understand is the same thing, except it keeps your data. Unfortunately, running House of Moto and RS Lite both fail with the same issue / error.

As it relates to the usual checks you alluded to: yes. I'm using the factory cable and a USB 2.0 port directly from my computer.

Any other thoughts?

If you are getting the same errors with both files, and you are sure of your driver installation. You could try a different computer if one is available to you. Other than that I would have to say you have a hardware failure. As these phones age (coming up on its fourth year) we have started over the last year an increase of memory module failure.  They are just wearing out.

Yes.  But only to flash the same or higher version than you're on.
