Live instances have been around for years. they work fairly well.

Hey Sam, curious if you enabled the Linux on Win 10?? Its not too bad to do simple stuff, havent tried anything too complex with it...
For those unaware and interested, In Security enable Developer mode. In Programs, add Windows features and scroll to the bottom and down there you will see Windows Subsystem for Linux

Yes, that's what I was referring to in my posts from yesterday. It doesn't work with fastboot/adb so it's useless.

GLWT
It has happened. I told her there were three security flaws that would 1) melt her phone and 2) give her diarrhea for a month. She threw her phone at me and said "FIX IT!!!!!!"

Maybe. Sometime soon. If I really bugger something up.
Thus far, I haven't rooted, not even unlocked the bootloader.... And the DevPrev of 8.1 installed via OTA flawlessly....

The HoN will flash the big OTA images on a locked phone, but, it won't do factory images because of Google's stupid policy.

Even with an unlocked bootloader?
Stupid....

Oh, I interpreted that to mean you could not flash factory images period using HoN. Hence my confusion. I knew about the bootloader thing, as it was the same with my Nexus 6. But I had already unlocked the bootloader on it (at some point I did, don't remember exactly when, early on though).
Thanks for the clarification to ease my confusion.

It looks like the pixel 2 might have additional unlocking commands.
The clip below was copied from : https://developers.g.../android/images
If necessary, unlock the device's bootloader using one of the following methods:
-
If you are updating a Nexus or Pixel device that is manufactured in 2015 or later (for example, a Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Pixel, Pixel XL, Pixel 2 or Pixel 2 XL device), run this command:
fastboot flashing unlock
-
For Pixel 2 XL only: the critical partitions may also need to be unlocked before flashing. The unlock can be performed with this command, and should NOT be done on other devices:
fastboot flashing unlock_critical -
If you are updating an older device, run this command:
fastboot oem unlock
The target device will show you a confirmation screen. (This erases all data on the target device.)
See Unlocking the bootloader for more detailed instructions.

Yea, and if you don't do it at the time of unlocking, it will wipe your device again the second time around. So make sure you do it right the first time.
