I was able to get Android Pay to work simply by disabling Su, adding a credit card, then re-enabling Su. May have rebooted, don't remember (there was a $20 Best Buy promo from Google for Nexus phones). Am on 6.0.1 but not latest Su. Seems to keep AP once there is a card installed. Don't know if that works on latest, but is an easy fix if it does.

I don't have to do any of that with the 6P on systemless root.

System less root is fine with Android Pay.  The first time you mount system r/w it may break it.  If you modify the partition at all, you will break it.

Argh.  I really need to get this done soon.  On 6.0.0 and my phone keeps telling me there is an update...lol.

So, K vs S vs Q - the lowdown is that K takes more space than S (11MB?), but what about Q?  And the same thing applies for root, again, right?  Does systemless work on S?

Not sure how much space on Q.  Yes, system less root works on all of them, but, if you do want to modify system on S you will need to free up space.  Korean language packs are a good potential space remover, but remember, if you modify system, OTAs won't work.

No matter how many times I use this, I'm always sweating it a little, lol.  No bootloop is a beautiful thing.   Android is upgrading :)

I followed directions, but for one thing - apparently my phone is set to encrypt - and I keep forgetting that after using HoN, the first time bootinig it will take a VERY long time - like 30+ minutes.

I need to kill the encryption, but do not know how.  I am more than willing to wipe (since I force closed the booting process and rebooted and it told me that hte encryption was bunk, and I had to wipe anyway now lol - so I wiped last night.

You have to use a custom boot img to disable encryption.

I BELIEVE when you install SuperSU, he patches the kernel to make encryption optional.

Hmm.  That may be why I am not seeing an encryption option now (haven't rooted yet) but I could have sworn I did before.

Now to have some more fun.  Doing all this $#!+e all over again....

So, with the newest SuperSU out for the N Preview, plus with the full N Preview system, I see some interesting differences.  But, I'm going to see if HoN works on the N Preview (already taken the OTA, so I figure I have already taken the new bootloader, so I am not going ot skip it, and this time, Since I am installing fresh, I'm wiping clean, as well.

I will examine the generated flash me versus the one in the actual full system file and see if any adjustments need to be made, and will let you know, Sam.  I don't see anything superficially, though.

I don't have to do any of that with the 6P on systemless root.

I thought so.  I knew someone had said that with systemless root Android Pay worked without having ot disable root and all that jazz...or is that not what you're saying?

System less root is fine with Android Pay.  The first time you mount system r/w it may break it.  If you modify the partition at all, you will break it.

We probably do not need to worry about that anymore.  ChainFire explained why the whole mounting process was breaking things - this might be the fix, and if so, then that means I can edit build.prop again :D

You have to use a custom boot img to disable encryption.

I wish someone would make one for the new Dev Preview, but oh well.

SuperSU patches the kernel for you to allow you to disable encryption.

And, it works.  One thing to note, however.  When you wipe userdata, you have to re-root - encryption is disabled upon reboot, even if you do not re-root, however.

Holy f%$ktards.  I should do a blog post write up on how this is a much easier method to disable encryption, since root goes systemless and the wipe userdata effectively removes it, you will not actuall be rooted.

Only problem - I have no other devices to test this on....so my write up will be only on the Nexus 6.  Unless a brave soul or 4 is willing to test on their device?

And that brings the question:  If we take a new OTA, will it re-encrypt the phone?  Probably.

HoN to the rescue.  Flash the full package, but do not reboot, then live boot TWRP and reflash SuperSU, finally reboot.

Yup.  If you really hate encryption that much, that's the way to do it.  LOL
