This is from Matt at the Motorola Owners Forum, So I think it's safe to say someone screwed up if Matt doesn't have a satement.

I am not confidant that Moto will tell us what happened or let Matt tell us. It doesn't seem to be their communication style and it is absolutely very frustrating and is probably the most often spoken criticism of them. Nevertheless, Moto is a good company and they will fix any errors and will get it out to rest of us soon. I can wait. My phone is honestly the best out there and in spite of being frustrated by this I remain a strong and loyal Moto customer.

I understand your frustration, but in this case it's more Christmas than policy that's making it difficult to get more information. Doing what I can, but everyone (me included) is busy with family, etc.

Happy holidays!Posted Image

Thanks again Matt!

Note to others, make sure not to have Mass Storage on when fixing root. I sat here for 45mins almost in tears due to my lack of reading.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

Quick question:

I updated to JB and I'm rooted thanks to OTA rootkeeper and all is well. I want to know what the effects are of factory resetting my phone on my root status. Will I lose it if I factory reset?

Negative. A factory reset does not effect your root

Unroot tools are a huge joke. You delete root files and you are unrooted. But all your changes from root are still there.

99.99% of the time its for warranty fraud too.

Instructions are the same for both:

Connect phone with USB Debugging Enabled, and the USB connection set to MTP mode. NOT USB Mass Storage.

Download and extract the whole .zip to its own folder.

Type into terminal the following commands ***DRAG ____ HERE*** means drag the ____ (can be a file or folder) into the terminal window. Do not type *** *** :P

No, Sorry. PDA Net seems to work for some though. If you want to root, this may help

If rooted, "Wi-fi Tether for Root Users" in Play works even better than Fox-Fi

This didn't restore my root. I have superuser still on my phone from a previous root.

I guess just need to wait now for a root method right?

He wasn`t rooted. Otherwise, the SQLite hack works great also. Plus, if someone does use WiFi Tether for root users, they need to make sure to go into it`s settings and check Generic ICS/JB for it to work properly.

So I decided to take the plunge and sideload the update. Everything went beautifully until I started to boot into JB for the first time. It has been stuck on the red eye(after the animation) for several minutes.

I think that it might be because I only wiped the cache, I didn't wipe all the data. Is there some way to recover from this? I haven't tried to turn off the phone to boot into recovery since I didn't want to disturb it if it just needed some more time. Any help would be very welcome!

You can boot into stock recovery and do a factory reset, No harm will come. :)

How long has it been at that screen? It took mine awhile too boot if it doesn't boot just hold the power and down volume and then boot into recovery when it turns off and wipe data and cache again and try to boot.
