Anyone want to put this into a flashable zip so we can install it via safestrap recovery? Would be greatly appreciated as I do not wanna screw up my stock side if this is not the ota.

So we got folks who used OTA Rootkeeper and lost & kept root. Scared, but REALLY want to try this.

I need root so I can make that small SQL change to get the wifi hotspot free :D

That link in the OP is not the Jelly Bean update. It took me to 215

I followed the instructions in the OP to the letter and still have root. As stated you need to run the update while you are still rooted.

I just upgraded to JB! Works great. I temp unrooted before flashing JB and after the flash finished (took about 10 min), I wiped data from recovery. Booted back up and everything is looking good. Voodoo OTA re-rooted no problem. I did lose my "beats audio" boot image, but I expect I can just reflash that no problem. Hopefully this helps someone!

EDIT: although I tried the hotspot hack it seems to want to check subscriptions... bummer because I liked to use the verizion hotspot app
EDIT2: guess the hotspot hack does work! set it up the same way you did on ICS and you're back in the game :)

Can we downgrade back to 6.16.211 Ice Cream Sandwich update? NO.

Can we root on Jellybean if I already updated and didn't protect root? Nope.. not yet anyway. Maybe a long way down the road.

Grumble grumble. Son of a.... That's not the news I expected or wanted to hear at all.

Non potest esse nisi unus

For those of you that want a more detailed writeup here it goes...
  • Flash back to stock .211 via matt's utility (option 1)
  • After setting up phone again root it via matt's utility (option 2)
  • Download and install Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper
  • Click the "protect root" button
  • Click Temp. Unroot
  • Click Restore Root
  • Click Temp. Unroot again
  • Plug usb into your phone and copy the update over to your external sd card.
  • Hold Power and both Volume Up and Down until boot screen appears
  • From boot screen, scroll down to “Recovery” with Volume Down
  • Press Volume Up to select it once it has been highlighted
  • When Android and exclamation show up, press both Volumes at the same time
  • Then “install update from external storage” and find Blur_Version.6.16.211.XT912.Verizon.en.US.zip
  • Flash update (flash will take like 10 minutes)
  • Wipe data (factory reset) <-- Probably optional but recommended
  • After going through initial setup again download Voodoo OTA from market again and click restore root button
  • Download superuser/super su from market
  • PROFIT!
This is the exact steps that I took and I have root. Hopefully this helps out...

Has anyone else noticed that the Jelly Bean quick settings doesn't exist? Anyone know if it's on other moto-based offician JB roms?

Yes... it is running the wrong. Homescreen. That is also why the circle widget is missing. You can however add them from the Razr M

Is there a reason why mine says aborted because of a logwrapper fail to find sha1.

even hashcode doesn't have the key to the locked boot loader, so no, you can't make this into a zip that can be flashed in normal recovery :(

I'll be flashing this when we get root. Just in case, as I've had some issues with Voodoo before.

This is exciting though, can't wait for fully functioning JB ROMs
