My DROID Razr Maxx is at 6.16.211.XT912 V 4.04. I backed up everything I wanted to save. I've downloaded Matt's utility, I've downloaded the JB leak and have it saved to my SD card on the phone. I loaded the Moto drivers on my PC. The phone is connected to my PC. I shut it off. Turning it back on I held the three buttons and have navigated to the AP Fastboot. Phone is locked. Status 0. I go to your utility and select 1. Nothing happens to the phone. It is unresponsive although it appears your utility is working. I thought maybe since I am already on ICS 4.04 I didn't need to do Option 1. So I chose Option 2. Same thing happens, the phone is unresponsive. What is wrong? What do I need to do?
Are you just trying to update to the JB leak? Are you currently rooted on ICS?

Second, Matt's root tool is performed with phone booted and not in fastboot mode.
Third, if you've never been rooted and your phone is already on .211, then all you need to do is root and backup root prior to installing the update. Follow the directions on how to use ota root keeper.

After reading over 500 posts I didnt see the answer. It may be in the other 690 posts. If I missed it sorry. This is my problem. I am trying to update my SU Binaries. from 3.0.3.2 to 3.1.1. It says during the binary updater "Making sure the new su works......FAIL!"
Yes I am rooted. I can use Tibu, Hotspot, and Voodoo. If I m
I had to reboot before I could get the binaries to update. Once updated, it still showed the old version so I rebooted again and then SU showed correct versions all around. I don't know if the second reboot was necessary, I think I saw somewhere that Matt said it wasn't, but it gave me peace of mind.

In what I thought was a successful 1.82 download and a 4.04 root, my phone still had the 6.16.215.xt912.verizon.en.us listing on it. Now I'm really frustrated and have no idea what to do.
You need to use the utility option 1 to fastboot back to .211 ICS prior to rooting. Then root. Then install OTA rootkeeper app with the utility, save root then upgrade to JB

So I connect my phone, while powered on, then hit the utility file (only one with a gear wheel on it) and do option one. Which I did. Right after that, I tried to root, but got lost.
Okay if I recall at the end of the option 1 run through it asks if you want to wipe data I think. Say yes to that. Then you have to set up the phone and turn on usb debugging in the setting before trying to root.

Other than reading 40 pages of posts, my install went rather smoothly. As a note, v1.80 of Matt's RazrUtility worked as well, I thought I had the newer version until it was time to run it. I just made sure to update Voodoo from Play.
I did have a snag where it was not installing the JB update, but it turned out I was not holding the buttons long enough on boot; recovery was an option, but it did a lying down Android guy with red triangle, and never prompted for install. Once I made sure to hold the buttons until the screen blanked out again it booted to install properly; and the android was standing for this with the wireframe object in front of him.
edit:
By the way, the SQL hack for tethering worked just fine, though I did have to redo it. Wiping the system in such complete ways definately put the toggle back to '1'.
