I think if you really read most of the posts you would come away with the impression that this release is a good one. I can say that this is the best my phone has run since I got it and I've been on quite a few different ROMS so hopefully your install went well and you enjoy this erroneous release. I'm sure when the next one gets pushed it will be posted here immediately!
Maybe I am overly paranoid. I think this release is the tits so far personally. But your statements have put my mind at ease. Hopefully all will be well. Thanks fellas

Even though I love jb on my razr, I can't stand the fact that I lost root(by my own fault). What do you guys think: wait until someone finds a way to root jelly bean? or get replacement and root ics then upgrade to jb?
If you follow the op to the word you will keep root. Update binaries on su as well.

If you mean getting a "warantee replacement" because you simply lost root it might constitute warantee fraud, which is kinda frowned on.

I requested and received a replacement based on the accidental (as far as Verizon is concerned) release of JB. I did have some connectivity issues, but was more concerned with losing root and wifi tether hack... Now I am re-rooted on ICS on the replacement razr patiently waiting for an official 1 click root before I upgrade (due to my abilities lol)If you mean getting a "warantee replacement" because you simply lost root it might constitute warantee fraud, which is kinda frowned on.

OK gotcha. I would suggest using xlightwaverx's dual boot utility if you don't want to go down the upate leak path. You then have the ability to swap between the ICS kernel and JB kernel... Keeping your phone fastbootable.

Best any of our phones have ran since our bugless beast days on our og Droids- our prior phones.
Yes, we're the schmucks that hang onto a phone for 2 plus years
+1 some for more than 2 years....

Did you have root on that one before upgrading?I am having issues. I have done all of this to one rzr and it worked perfect. I did the same proccess with another one and for some reason I dont have root accsess. It is telling me no su binary found. I did everything exactly the same on the other phone and worked perfectly. dose any body have any suggestions? Or a way to root the new 4.1.2 from scratch.
Did you make sure you had the latest superuser binaries?
Did you "temp unroot" and "restore root" TWICE before upgrading?
Did you try Matt's "Restore Root" utility after upgrading?

I didn't read beyond 'Download it here', yet managed to retain root via a manual backup (or three).
So far, my experience is 100% positive. A couple of apps FC, but I already expected that from running a Nexus 7... It's the same apps, too.

No, you're *not* supposed to "temp unroot" before flashing.Whew! Matt's utility did the trick! I thought since I had started flashing JB I wouldn't be able to flash back to ICS. Could the error be because I didn't temp unroot b4 flashing?
Did you follow his directions EXACTLY the first time you tried?

And no, you do not want to be Temp. Unrooted when you update.
