Same here +1

im worried bout the SU issue im having any ideas??? i want the update =(

Can't wait. I hope it is the official one. Or at least one that we can flash. I have been trying to update the SuperUser as well; the app is at 3.1.3 but it fails trying to update to 3.1.1. Says "Gaining root access. . . fail".

If it's stuck on checking current version.....reboot then try again.

if it's stuck on trying to get su again....reboot then try again.

I got hung up at both spots. Rebooting worked for me.

Chiming in for the first time here...I followed the OP instructions and was able to update and keep root. All is well, JB is buttery smooth, and I couldn't be happier with the phone.

I am getting the following with root restorer...

"Have drivers installed, phone connected, and USB Debugging enabled in Develope
r Options."
/system/bin/sh: su: not found
368 KB/s (91992 bytes in 0.244s)
363 KB/s (1020803 bytes in 2.742s)
/system/bin/sh: su: not found
/system/bin/sh: su: not found
/system/bin/sh: su: not found
/system/bin/sh: su: not found
/system/bin/sh: su: not found
"Rebooting..."
/system/bin/sh: su: not found
If the above id shows 0 then you are rooted. Press any key to exit.

I am getting the same errors, any luck yet?

It is not the same kernel, they are very similar. Stock .211 is on:

3.0.8-g29cf5e7hudsoncm@il93lnx54 #1 SMP PREEMPT Thu Jun 14 15:22:48 CDT 2012

It is the same base kernel version (3.0.8) and is the incorrect version for JB. This is because this was never meant for release. JB is technically supposed to be based on a Linux 3.0.31

This accidentally released build you guys are running is working off the same principal a Cyanogen/AOKP build does. It takes advantage of the fact that the ICS kernel and JB kernel are technically compatible.

Ouch... didn't mean to offend anyone with a noob question. I'll be more careful in the future.

It's not a case of offending anyone. It just makes us "non-noobs" nervous when someone is messing around with this stuff and don't know the basics. Too much risk of ruining your phone. in this case, if you install this and it does not work out for you, there is no going back. Apparently, they upped the bootloader security.

Thanks for the info. I think I'll pass on this since it's not fast boot able

I would if this were to release for the Bionic, the mismatched kernel makes me nervous.

Still, keep in mind that it was Moto's f%$kup that caused this to push out, so they HAVE to create a patch for it to put people back on the official OTA path. I just wouldn't expect it to happen quickly.

Mine did that until I realized I had the phone set as a mass storage device...change that to one of the other settings and it should work.

I unrooted via Voodoo OTA... was getting the JB update... then everything stopped as if it were pulled (as mentioned at the start of this thread). Weird... o.0

Shame this build doesn't come with an unlocked bootloader... that would be an even better Christmas present from Moto/Verizon.

I tried RestoreRoot but it didn't work. VooDoo couldn't get Root Privileges to restore su even though it had a good backup copy.

I ended up wiping the device and restarting from scratch with Android 4.1.2 due to a ton of old crap built up from Gingerbread days.
So I hope we get a new exploit soon please!
