Hold Power, Vol Up, Vol Down ( all 3) until you see the screen flash, then let go of power. That should get you to the bootloader screen.

Again, I have done this multiple times. My phone is stuck in a boot loop. I cannot get into recovery or access fastboot or anything else

Please pardon any mental lapse on my part

I do not 'get' what is in the following section of Matt's OP (I'm adding #'s to the steps for sake of reference )

Quote

Superuser App is 3.1.3 Superuser (su) binary is 3.1.1

1. Open OTA Rootkeeper.

2. Choose ' Backup Root '

3. Choose ' Temp Unroot '
**** sounds normal so far***
4. Choose ' Restore Root '

5. Choose ' Temp Unroot '

6. Choose 'Restore Root' (Yes, we did that twice.

And no, you do not want to be Temp. Unrooted when you update.)

here's where I am confused, I recall that you do need to be temp unrooted in order to get OTA update & afterwards you need to Restore root in Voodoo after update is done

sorry if I missed something obvious - but step 6 is confusing as I prev mentioned.

tia for any help & thanks Matt for being there for everyone, yet again!

Hold all down for about 10 seconds, when you see the screen go black, quickly release the power button and press it again while holding both volume buttons. you have to do it quick..

I was rooted / (protected root backup) when I applied the Ota, sideloaded ota successfully and then restored root. The temp unroot prior to appying an update was a myth, I've never temp unrooted and I've installed just about every leak there was.

You do have to make sure that your su binaries are up-to-date though prior to taking the ota or you'll be hosed for root.

Edit: To clarify, I'm not talking about Matt's steps above where you root and unroot being a myth, I'm saying it was a myth that people thought that you had to temp unroot prior to applying the update.

When you see it says it has a copy of root, or backup of root (su) you wan't the button to say "Temp. un-root (keeps backup)"

If someone uploads a System Pull, we can make a Base ROM that works with ICS and that is fastbootable back. We can patch the kernel, and directly write it it with fastboot.exe. Only thing we won't have is updated radio's but by the sound of it they're not that good anyways.

thanks satman, that cleared it up for me

sounds like I should wait, like other early releases / leaks

there seem to be early adapter probs…

& a worse updated radio doesn't sound inspiring…

if you take a few minutes to google this, you'll find out that updates are named for the version you are upgrading from. This question is asked hundreds of times everytime there is an update. i chuckle when people like you ask this, like the devs are this site post files as a joke. if a dev says its ics, or jb, or whatever, 99% of the time it is. they aren't going to post a file that is JB but link to a file that's ics.

  65.76KB   2 downloads

Edit: So far everything is working Easytether Pro works fine. Blue 4G LTE works also.
interface seems MUCH MUCH smoother than ICS.

Edit (2): I used Matt's Utility to go back to the .211 ..... then flashed the .zip file. I have had ABSOLUTELY NO PROBLEMS. 4G LTE works...tethering works...screen is very responsive and smoother than on ICS.

if you know anything about updates, leaks, etc you would know updates are named for the version you are upgrading from. This question is asked hundreds of times everytime there is an update.

Ouch... didn't mean to offend anyone with a noob question. I'll be more careful in the future.

No big deal..it is a question that gets asked and answered a lot...no reason to think that will change. If one only does this a couple of times per year, it is easily forgotten.
