BREAKING NEWS! 12/4/2012

In a surprise Christmas gift from Motorola and Verizon... Jellybean 4.1 is now being pushed to the Verizon DROID RAZR and the Verizon DROID RAZR MAXX! We weren't expecting this until well into 2013, so this is quite a gift!

The update is 98.72.8 and is for coming from 6.16.211. If you are on 6.16.214/215 you need to roll back to the 6.16.211 update first.

Please be aware, this new build is likely not rootable yet! If you want to have root!

Go back to stock 6.16.211 and wipe data. This can be done with Option 1 of the DROID RAZR Utility 1.82.

Root with Option 2 of the utility.

Use the utility option to Install Voodoo's OTA Rootkeeper. ----Please make sure it is the latest updated version in the Play Store! Utility 1.81 and earlier use the old version!----

Go into the Superuser app's info pane and make sure this information is correct, if not, update!

Superuser App is 3.1.3
Superuser (su) binary is 3.1.1

Open OTA Rootkeeper.

Choose ' Backup Root '

Choose ' Temp Unroot '

Choose ' Restore Root '

Choose ' Temp Unroot '

Choose 'Restore Root' (Yes, we did that twice. And no, you do not want to be Temp. Unrooted when you update.)

Install the OTA update via Settings > About Phone > System Update (Note that this won't be open to everyone yet, its just rolling out to a few right now)

Restore Root in the OTA Rootkeeper app once booted into Jellybean.

OR

Install the update via external storage by booting into Motorola Recovery manually. Download here temporarily:

Good luck everyone!

Whoever has updated - could you please confirm if any wifi-tether option (foxfi, etc.) works with the JB build? I am holding off until that's confirmed. Losing wifi tethering would not be a "present" to me. :)

What's PDANet? like foxfi? never mind - found it - it's Bluetooth tethering. I guess if that's confirmed to work, it's an ok workaround for a while.

I use it for USB Tether on my Atrix HD Jellybean too :)

Do we have to uninstall SS3? Or does it matter?
