A little off topic but i just read on the main page that the Bionic JB soak tests have begun. That would mean if all goes well we could see that OTA in as little as a week from then. I was wondering if anyone was going to jump to it right away or wait. Also, are the Devs going to start working with the JB kernel for roms? i love all the Devs on here and the work they do. You can see in every ROM the quality these ROMs have over the "official" ROMs

I personally will wait as all of these ROMS will not work with a JB kernel obviously. But i know there are some inherent issues with teh ICS kernel with suspend issues. I personally want to be on a new Kernel but will wait for the Devs and such to start making ROMs. I dont like BLOATWARE or being told what i can and cant do with my phone.

I will jump over to the new version. With it, I will have Google now and access to most apps, but most importantly the new kernel will allow for better battery life, memory management, possibly a better camera, generally more stable, and it will be overall faster. If you want to wait for some extra features made by devs on this site, that's great, but you would gain more from upgrading then switching over later.

Yeah. That was my feeling too. The better battery life from the JB kernel is the whole deal. I've had Google now with Icarus room and honestly is a battery hog on the bionic. I like the thin profile so I stay with my stick 1735mah battery. I still go home after 9 hours with 50% but I always want more battery!

One thing to keep in mind is that while there are ways to protect root during the upgrade, there are (so far) no proven root exploits for the Bionic JB yet, so if you have to do a FXZ, your going to be stuck unrooted. Unfortunately the person that was the best at finding these types of exploits is now retired so while there are other talented people out there to work on this, there is no telling how long it may take to get this done. Just putting the information out there.

Yes, very true. I have thought about that and dont expect the rzrs edge exploit to work. I hate the thought of not being rooted. You can disable alot (not all though) of the apps and such loaded on with JB. I will wait and see if the update is indeed a good one without any major bugs though. Also, this will likely be a 4.1.1 or 4.1.2 patch not 4.2.2 so there is that as well.

With the upgrade to JB on the stock ROM not being rooted, will that remove or hinder safestrap that was already installed?

You won't be able to take the update (and probably don't want to anyway, but that's a different thread) with Safestrap installed, the phone rooted or any stock apps frozen.

Yes you would have to wipe all slots and then boot into stock and uninstall recovery and then remove safestap and restore your stock rom to normal then remove TB then unroot. the new app on the market is a 1 button unroot tool. seems nice. Will unroot every android device with 2.2 or higher it claims.

You would then have to wait for a new root method then new roms to be developed (and new safestrap i would assume). I personally woule like to take it but after i can reroot it and go with more custom roms. I would just like to have JB custom ROMs on a JB kernel is all.

One more thing. Gottabemobile just posted that the Bionic update will start rolling out April 15th. So it made it through the soak just fine apparently

Battery Life is Driven by how many Widgets, Certain Apps, Live Wallpaper, Syncing Emails and not to exclude Apps running in the background to mention a few...

Its not any ROM or Version Of ICS or JB...Maybe on Occassion but not likely...IMO Captain...

The uninformed. They will pop out of the woodwork once they start having problems.

Speaking of problems, anyone been having problems with voicemail? Have had it crash my phone 3 times in the last week. Crash meaning it freezes and takes multiple wipes and reboots before it will fully boot.

I think this may have been brought up before-is WiFi broken in the latest nightlies? I can't get it to turn on even after deleting slot 1 and reinstalling 4/12 fresh.
