Has anyone tried kexec yet? Does it have working stock camera? Sorry if this is in the wrong thread but it doesn't seem like one has been made yet for bionic kexec

I was curious about that myself, other than allowing a different kernel to run. Seems to be running fine so far. Wiped cache & dalvik on newly created slot 1. Didn't wipe system. Should I have?

Edit:
WiFi MAC is still hardcoded.

Edit 2:
Seems pretty smooth over all. I've encountered a few quirks here and there.
1. Light Flow Lite - unable to enable Light Flow accessibility. Oddly enough LiteFlow Lite seems to work anyhow as my custom notifications work!
2. Scrolling through widgets, some widget icons try to open even though I am dragging to scroll.
3. Speaker phone is not working for me. Odd.
4. Can't find my bluetooth headset. Where did I put it? ;-)

I just downloaded and installed the KEXEC version. In Safestrap I wiped cache, dalvik, and system before installing and also installed GAPPS 3-1-13. So far I haven't seen a difference from the 3/07 nightly I was on. I tried stock camera and it locks up just like always. The tearing is still there. Haven't tried speakerphone, yet and I don't use Bluetooth.

As other have stated, what does the KEXEC version do that's different than what we've been using so far? Does it allow the developers to use a different kernel than the ICS one? Would that mean that, say, the JB for the Razr could be utilized and tweaked for the Bionic? I could be completely off base, but I thought I'd at least ask.

I think it also has something to do with locked bootloader and helping with development.

Lock as in Nav? Sorry about asking if that's what you're referring to or something else

Kexec allows the use of a non stock kernel. So we can have a jellybean kernal with our jelly bean rom.

From what i understande most our the bugs in this rom come from not using a jellybean kernal so im thiking they will be cleared up.

I think this will help bring us a working stock camera hashcode did tweet something about finding a camera bug in the bionic so i think he is working on it. But he is a vary busy man with all the devices he supports.

I think it also has something to do with locked bootloader and helping with development.

yeah im on it now, honestly cant tell too much difference from the official CM nightlies. ive heard some people say the speakerphone is working but i havent tried it. i did try stock camera and its still not working. but if you follow hashcode of dhacker on twitter they talk about it alot and it sounds like kexec will get the camera working soon but no its not working on the 3/9 build yet.

I don't have time to go into too much detail but kexec allows us to install custom kernels.

What it does is loads the stock kernel then hijacks it and loads the custom kernel on top of it. Basically confusing the locked part of our phone into believing that the correct files are loaded.

Hope that helps you guys understand at least the idea of it :-)

That's a pretty good definition of it depending on how it's implemented

Oh and if you install the kexec version you'll see that in your phone info area it has your kernel listed as dhacker :-)

Yes... Everything is on the stock kernel with a locked bootloader. The only time it isn't is with a kexec build (wip) ... When the JB ota hits they will grab the proprietary files from it and add them :-)
