132.14KB   70 downloads Have you ever bricked your phone and it ended up dying? That device probably ended up getting thrown away or put into your desk. Well, take it out! Team Black Hat has made an adapter that will give enough juice to your Motorola Device to get into Fastboot Mode/Bootloader. Now, this adapter can be used on other devices but it is advertised towards Motorola devices. Now, to the review part. Today, I decided to brick my old Razr by flashing onto it an incompatible boot.img by DDing it to the partition. Terrible choice by my part. The second thing I did was let this phone die. Whoops. Then thirdly, I tried my hardest to get it to turn on with a normal cord and what a surprised it failed. So, here comes my savior the Motorola Factory Adapter. This tool is the size of a nickel and attaches to ANY android cable. After I plugged the adapter into the cable, I put it into my phone and finally the computer. My Razr booted directly into Fastboot Mode and I was able to recovery my phone to factory settings. I highly recommended this product as there is not a simpler and cheaper solution available. I will post a link to this adapter at the bottom of the thread as my source!

Cheers!

I've had one of these for 3 months now, it goes with me everywhere in my laptop bag. It's saved 4 Razrs so far with more to come, I'm sure. This, in my opinion, is a MUST have for EVERY Android enthusiast. I will add one thing, the adapter simply bypasses the battery, so if you're using it, DO NOT unplug it unless your device is powered off. If you do so, the device will simply turn off, regardless of where you may be a the recovery process.

I couldn't agree more this is the single best investment you can make and will prove a lifesaver if needed (coming from a person whom destroyed three cables making my own, lol)

Putting an order in for one now. I've got two Droid Razr's and don't plan on migrating away from their phones anytime soon. More and more of my friends and coworkers are getting razrs... so I figured this will be a worthy investment.
Are there any other must-have tools or kits that are equally useful for razr's?

Yes, there's one that I carry with me at all times, it's only a few bucks. Of course we all hope that our phone issues never come to this but on eBay they sell small torx screwdrivers kit that come with a plastic pry tool. Always a good idea to have one of those around too!

Here's a link to one set:

Out of curiosity : Is this only relevant for people who brick their phones with flashing roms ? Or can something bad happen to me on stock ROM that would require such a tool ?

My phone: Motorola Razr GSM XT910 "Maxxed" - Running stock JB 4.1.2 @ Lightning Launcher + Zooper Widgets PRO

Where do these adapters ship from? I'm in Los Angeles and wondering approx how long it will take to arrive via the various shipping options. Thanks!

I think this is a vital asset that everyone should have when dealing with these devices. I have one and have yet to need it but have seen many people need one and not have it.

Thanks. Well, I paid for the priority shipping, so here's hoping it'll be here in two days. In the meantime, sans phone ...

Ordered one just to have it in case of a problem came in a week. I don't hack the Razr much except for using Matts utility since it is my primary device for work but I do have a Xoom that I crack flash.

Question:
Will this work on an OG Droid? I have one that belongs to a buddy that has been floating around in the console of my van for about a year that went bad about a year ago. The phone is junk right now so I don't care about it but I don't want to ruin the adapter buy plugging it into a borked device. Problem is it doesn't charge and even when I put the battery from my OG Droid in it it won't boot into recovery.
