Im noticing a trend around here where people ask $#!7 thats answered in the OP or recent post.. READ BEFORE YOU ASK $#!7!! Anyways, do I need to wipe before installing this if im upgrading from 2.1?
from a few pages back. ..
OP is updated and the Links are Live! Be sure to grab the new BWgtalk zip (the old ones will still work, but this is the newest version (4.1.2)).If your already on BWAOKP v2.1, there is no need to wipe data, or anything, just flash the ROM zip.
After first boot, go back and install BWgtalk through recovery. no wipes, just flash.
This is compatible with the newest safestrap3.05. Please read the OP and changelog in post #2. Enjoy!!and as always, if you enjoy the ROM, feel free to hit the Like button to the OP~ Aloha and Mahalo. ..

Everything seems great...love the blacked out theme. Only problem I'm having is location services. I did not notice any discussion about it in the thread, things like Google Now and AOKP weather doesn't work.

I had this happen on 2.0 AOKP for me. It wouldnt update when I tried to manually update it. So far though, in 2.2, it hasnt happened. Going to give it a couple days because the same thing happened with 2.0. After a few days, it just stopped auto updating and I had to manually locate. If it starts happening again, after a couple of days, I'll throw my hat in on this. I did have that problem though. I live in such a spotty area of coverage that I cant tell if its just where I live or the phone or rom. I wasnt on stock long enough to judge. Blur stinks, that's what ROMing is for.

Were you able to get it to work? GPS seems to work...its just that location services aren't working.

I was with doing a manual synch in the weather and news app. That would sync the lock screen app. I have an odd setup. I use alarm clock plus for my alarms which has a home screen which links to the weather and news app. But that seems to push the weather update for the yahoo weather update in the AOKP lock screen. Thats just what worked for me. Im used to having to do a lot of manual garbage on my phone where I work because of the interference (electrical transfer station literally next door). I dont know if you use that at all. News and Weather is sort of in AOKP/CM JB.
Try opening News and Weather and doing a manual sync and see what happens. For some reason this has always been my fix it for me.

I am unfortunately having some issues. Google Play stops immediately after opening it. I can not use it at all. I also keep getting the same error Android.process.media has stopped. It has probably popped up 50 times! Lastly, the hard buttons at the bottom of the phone don't light (menu, home, back and search). How can I get them back on?
I even tried uninstalling this ROM (cleared cache, davlik cache, system, etc), then reflashing it, yet when I rebooted, everything was still there. This is bizarre. Any help would be appreciated.

I have been using Arctic HD and Arctic ICS before that. I flashed this through SS3.05 last night. I figured it would be nice to try out JB while having the ability to toggle back to a blur based ROM if I need some of the features the base JB doesn't offer yet. Generally speaking I love it . BW has some killer add ons that are really nice!

well, you need to Wipe Data. so if you would like to run BW with minimal problems (other than the listed known bugs).. i would suggest rebooting into recovery, selecting which rom slot you are wanting BW in, wipe data factory reset, then wipe cache partition, then wipe dalvik cache, then format system, then install the ROM: BWAOKP_JB_V2.2.zip and after it is complete, reboot the device and everything should be a good to go from there......

you do understand JB is still early alpha stages of development.... so of course there are still tons of bugs to be worked out. and when moto pushes their version of JB, we will have that kernel to build off which will make for a better JB rom. until then. ..
Oh yeah man, I totally understand. But I also understand that we have a lot of highly intelligent people around here... not just the developers that are working on the ROMs. Time and time again, I have seen someone come up with a hacked-together workaround for broken stuff. Prime example are ringtones in the media folder on an SD card. JB won't read it... it is broken. But how long did it take people to figure out you could take the MP3s and toss them in your system/media, change the permission, and have working ringtones. Not the right way, but it works. Its not too far off to think someone may have done the same with gallery already. See what I'm saying?

OK. Reinstalled and it worked... thanks!
There is still the question of how to have the menu, home, back and search hard buttons at the bottom of the RAZR light up? I prefer to use them over the JB navigation buttons since the hard buttons take up real estate. I don't want to waste them!

if you use Auto brightness it should turn them on, but if they still dont turn back on after changing the brightness... you can download this app from PLAY and it works great.. ( i use it to lock the button light OFF, since i cant stand them and i already know where the buttons are), but anyways, the developer is Desk Angel, and the app is: AdjBrightness. download it, open it up, hit menu, option, check mark (enable) Auto exit, and down under buttons, Lock on button light.

is there no face unlock for security?
correct. If the Front Facing Camera video doesnt work, it would be rather difficult for facelock to work
