ok, ok, someone PLEASE! :D  clearly step by step break down this barney style how i get this update on my razr maxx without bricking it. I'm running abysm extreme 1.1 with safestrap. I got my phone rooted with zerglings and safestrap on here and abysm but im not 100% confident in my abilities. So I love yall help your absym brother out please :P If you can include links at the steps needed that be great too :) Also, once i'm done with the update, how to return to where my phone is at now and if it wiil be ok. I'm thinking its the same process that putting it on the the first time was? By the way, DT i have been running abysm for five days and i can honestly say its a great rom. THANKS! I can vouch that on the maxx with light use the phone will last 48+ hours without dying. I have yet to fall under 80% and thats over 16 hours no charge. Also, setcpu does little to nothing to improve battery life guys, it mostly hurts performance but i did find the optimum range was 300- 800. It is definitely more fluid with his rom settings tho.

i have a question for those of you who have had or still having home key issues. did any of you notice some of the power key options missing? i had noticed it before but after wiping and reflashing in the attempt to get my home key back, it came to my attention again. so i thot i'd ask and see if there might be a relation between the 2. right now my home key is working fine...

I can give a partial help on this. As far as update I assume you are referring to the OTA system update to 173? If so, it has not been pushed officially to my knowledge. You can update with the leaked version but as DT has stated a few times. He is not building an update for Abysm based on 173 until the official has been pushed and he has the new official system files to work with. Having said that, you can still update to the leaked 173 following walkthrough's that are all over this site. It would require getting back on stock 748 system to then be able to update to the leaked 173. At this point, you may just be better off waiting on the official update as it may be any time now. This rom on 173 will be ok minus the use of bluetooth(will cause reboots) and a few other very minor issues.
As far as setcpu, I don't think it can really help much with the razr with a locked bootloader and no way yet to tweak kernels(that I know of). The readings it is giving may be false. Again, I don't know a while lot about that but that is the little I know.
Hope some of this helps and happy flashing :)

I'm not even gonna bother with the 174 till it goes official, personally. But yea, you'd have to go in steps if that's your plan.

I think your on target with the setcpu comment. I don't ever use bluetooth so im absolutely fine with that. So will DT just have an update to 1.2 and it will be easy as flashing 1.1? If so, I'll probably just wait. But this would explain why i have noticed so much signal dropping from my RAZR's I have had. I have attributed it to the verizon towers, but i guess my ultimate RAZRs have flaws :( I'm currently on 6.11.748.XT912 which apparently is stock for all RAZRs .. :/ super lame lol Would you reccomend me flashing 173 to my gfs stock RAZR? I imagine it would be easy pie seeing as shes not rooted LOL

Apologies, I should have been more specific, you still will need to go back to stock for the official 173 update when it is pushed. All stock system files must be in place for a successful update. This would be for the leaked or official update. Flashing a rom will not update system version.
And yes, would be easy to update gfs to 173 but being a leak there is risk of falling off the upgrade path without root. Again, may be best to just hang in there for the official update to come through for her.

Is there a way to donate directly to droid th3ory? I would love to help him out, hes a good guy and i love his rom :) I believe i got moneys worth from this rom. Also, another thought just popped in my head, Anyone know how to learn how to make a widget? I would love to make one that I think is desperately needed. Or, if someone would make it I bet it would sell well on the market :P (i would buy it anyway :) )

I'm running the extreme debloat - its only been like 36 hours or so, so I can't really comment on battery life thus far. But that said, this ROM is fast! Went with the ICS theme and I am loving everything about this. Digging the fact that the car dock doesnt recognize correctly - leaves my phone in normal running state which means I have access to my apps! Great job DT, I have no complaints about this ROM whatsoever. And I'm picky.

So basically, there is very little point in waiting for anything official for us abysm extreme 1.1 users? We are off the upgrade path so we would have to do all the work ourselves anyway right? I have seen that it is possible to lose root completely with the updates. Is that why we should wait for official updates? Or can i depend on the vodoo rootkeeper to do its thing? Assuming rootkeeper works, is there really going to be a difference in waiting for "official OTA updates" and just doing it now?

It is personal preference really. Rootkeeper should work fine and from experience does for the leak. As far as leak and official, we won't know until it really is official whether there will be any differences in the leak and ota.
This rom is built on the 748 system so just know if/when you update and remain running 1.1 you may have minor issues like the bluetooth reboot. I had to stay on 748 as I use bluetooth alot and this rom is too awesome not to have fully functional.
My personal plan is to wait until 173 is official, then hope DT puts out some amazing butter built off it, then do my updates after that.

Makes sense, I like your logic and i dont really look forward to all the re-customizing etc that will have to be done so i'd rather this be a one shot one kill procedure. Plus, it is possible that DT may go with a new Rom and abandon abysm once we get this update or something. So, ya I'm with ya on sticking with what works. I just got worked up when it finally dawned on me that our phones are not running the best they could. But, alas, everyone is jealous of abysm when i show off the battery life :D My gf is always trying to use my phone because its so special compared to her stock RAZR. I wonder why its taking them so long to get our RAZRS on ICS. I hate that the nexus has it and we are better, yet stuck waiting :(

Yes my home key worked until I went to reboot. I pressed the power button and 4 or 5 options appeared. Pressed reboot, once rebooted the home key is completely inoperable. Went to reboot again to rid the bug and only 3 options popped up (reboot, off, power save). Did this a few times and even after a fresh wipe and install, the same exact thing happened again.

The Home Buttons being sketchy is a bug in Go launcher.
