I barely understand how safestrap works myself, but doesn't it use the same kernel and such on both? Would it even let you upgrade it that way?
You are correct about the kernel, but the biggest issue is that SS weeps the /preinstall directory which had to be restored before installing an OTA. Restoring it wipes your safe side. Just one of the many reasons we do not recommend people use SS and just stock with bootstrap.

installing the extreme patch, and rebooting multiple times lol. One literally has to press the back button 30 plus times, just to exit the browser in order to use the phone. I also didn't have enough time to install any apps, let alone TBU. Is there any fix for this yet?

I'm gonna go through the steps to upgrade to .174 by diabling safestrap and keeping this rom in safe partition. Hopefully I don't get stuck in a boot loop or something worse...
You can't do that. The leaked updates act like official Moto updates which first check the integrity of your current system. That invloves making sure the preinstall folder is up to snuff - which it won't be if you had another ROM installed on the safe side. You'll have to clear the other rom, disable safe strap AND restore your preinstall folder to stock state.
Safestrap doesn't work with this at all.... I turned it off disabled it.... now I've merged my stock with Abysm.... and I have no service. RSD here I come. Thank goodness i got titanium backup pro
You're doing it wrong. I've used Safe strap to install this ROM multiple times. I've also use bootstrap. Both work. What does "now I've merged my stock with Abysm" even mean? You realize that you can only install this with either Safestrap or bootstrap right? And neither of those does any 'merging'

Using fastboot files now... and I restored a backup in CWM thinking it was my stock system and it was really this ROM's backup. I'm back on .744 now so it's all good.

Have you tried downloading the NFL App from the market?Sorry if this has been approached, 1170 posting gs is a lot to read. I am getting an error when trying to use my Verizon and nfl mobile. Any ideas? I have un-installed and reinstalled. I have cleared data, cleared cache.

I let my phone completely drain the battery and then charged fully. After using 4g a few hours for Pandora and moderate to heavy use..22 hours later i'm at 51 percent. Loving this!

That's really good. Where do you run your brightness? Mine doesn't matter if I have it all the way dim or on auto bright its always my biggest drain.

I have the display power saver on and have the bar for brightness not quite a half inch up without "automatic brightness"... Better is at 37% after 25 hours.

I have had 4g on for about a total of roughly 3-4 hours of that... I only turn it on to tether or when I am downloading or consistently browsing the web.

Yea, I figured it wouldn't even let you do that without restoring the prinstall folder. I have that downloaded and ready. I just need a good 173 rom before I update! You are correct about the kernel, but the biggest issue is that SS weeps the /preinstall directory which had to be restored before installing an OTA. Is there a way to make bootstrap come up at boot like SS does when you hit the menu button? That's the biggest reason I'm using SS now - I can get back into recovery easily if I screw up. I'd probably prefer BS over SS if I could get to it without an in-system command.
