IF YOU ARE ON 9.16.6, THE LATEST OTA, DO NOT USE THE DROID RAZR HD UTILITY 1.10 OR BELOW

DROID RAZR HD Utility 1.10 [Linux/Mac]

This is the Linux/Mac version of Matt's Utility for the DROID RAZR HD

Once again: thanx to:

mattlgroff for providing the utility

Dan Rosenburg for the root exploit

Motorola for the awesome devices to play with

Google for giving us Android

and as always, the DROIDRZR.com community without you there would be no reason to do this

Options:

1. Fastboot Restore 0.6.25 (ICS 4.0.4 Official Software)
2. Root (motofail2go by Dan Rosenberg) for ICS 4.0.4
3. Install Voodoo's OTA Rootkeeper App

4.Install Hashcode's Safestrap 3.05.17

CHANGELOG AS OF 12/05/2012:

version 1.10

Updated su binaries:

Added the option to install Hashcode's Safestrap (3.05.17)

Please remember:

THIS USES THE AP FASTBOOT MODE

MAKE SURE YOU HAVE PLENTY OF CHARGE TO DO THIS!!!!
80% OR HIGHER IS PREFERABLE JUST TO BE SAFE

NOBODY LIKES A DEAD, HALF PROGRAMMED PHONE

NOTE: As of right now I personally have been unable to fully test this (as I do not have my Razr HD yet)

so if anyone is willing to test this, please feel free to and please post if it works for you, or not

so we can make adjustments/fixes as needed.....

thank you :)

A HUGE THANX GOES OUT TO ALL WHO HAVE TESTED THIS FOR ME

I COULD NOT HAVE DONE IT WITHOUT YOU :)

Thank you to again to everyone!

Took the dive im using the the verizon razr hd maxx. Got the utiltiy to work. When i was doing the final reboot the phone kept booting into ap fasboot mode and gives this message at the bottom of the screen.

"No valid PIV block in SP for system
piv validation failed (system)
Fastboot Reason: Boot Failure"

This is what it boots to whenever you power on the phone.

UPDATE.....VERY IMPORTANT!!!!! As far as i can see your boot failure was caused by an error in the script.... and for that i apologize.... i am correcting it right now and will PM you the new script and update the OP with it also.... thank you for testing it....

Probably a stupid question, but how do I actually run this utility on my Mac?

Probably a stupid question, but how do I actually run this utility on my Mac?

The LinuxMacDroidRazrHD.sh file is the executable (make sure you get the updated one) .... extract the utility, open terminal, navigate to where you extracted by cd "/where/you/extracted/utility"... then type./LinuxMacDroidRazrHD.sh.... should work for you... :)

You'll have to forgive me...total noob when it comes to this kind of stuff on a mac, but I don't have a PC with me right now.. How do I extract the utility? It doesn't show up as a .exe file, when I open it, it just brings up the code in Text Editor. I have it saved to the desktop..

Extract the downloaded zip to an empty folder that's easy to find. Open terminal(or whatever is called in Mac) then change directory to where you placed the extracted zip. On Linux you would then simply run the script via terminal by entering the script name followed by pressing enter. I'm not 100% sure on a Mac setup but I'm assuming it would be pretty similar.. once the script is run it'll do the rest. You'll have to press enter a few times after each fastboot reboot-bootloader... but it will tell you when that's needed.

I used your new script and i'm getting the same error. it sends an error when writing system

"writing 'system'... INFOProtocol error (multiflash unexpected)

FAILED (remote failure)"

is there a way to get out of this?

its a problem with the fastboot available for Linux. I ran into the same issue running the commands by hand with the full system image. With smaller images such as aosp the flash goes through fine. problem is the official img is to large for the flash buffer and the bootloader doesn't like the old version of moto-fastboot. im gonna try to contact moto to see if I can possibly get an updated Linux fastboot.

No problem man! Trust me I've had a couple rounds with it already lol... I have posted in their forum so hopefully we can get an answer soon!

.... I'm assuming they have the correct version of fastboot we need considering android is developed primarily via Linux... but who knows! Lol...

Edit: Matt pointed the direction for this....

For those that need the utility in Linux replace your current fastboot file in the utility with the one from that zip and give it a go! Feel free to give feedback to let everyone else know if it works as needed.

thanx again for your help with this..... also thanx Matt as well hopefully these work better for everyone :) i did notice that there is only one file for Linux and only one for Mac(Darwin) ..... does this mean we no longer need to write the script to accomodate the difference between 32 bit and 64 bit? I really hope so :)
