I copied that file and renamed it and loaded it into RSD and when I click on start, it immediately says Failed flashing process. unknown fastboot command (getvar)

Simple fix really my M was doing the same thing. If oyu go into the fastboot file and find the *.xml in the folder oped/Edit it. The first line in the XML will have getvar in it. Forget how it is labeled tho. Anywhoo just delete the entire line out fo the XML and then save the changes. After that the full fastboot file will flash fine in RSD. Oh and if you DO NOT want your internal memory wiped out when using the fastboot file delete the last line in the XML file that says userdata in it.

Somehow, though, I suspect they closed the moto2go exploit in JB.

I'd be very surprised if that is the case. I know 2 ppl on the Razr M how had JB on it with no root and used the current root exploit while on JB without issue. However the HD did get that small security patch already so maybe that is what closed the hole. Not sure seeing as the M did not get that update I don't believe.

Hold Volume Up and Power until you get to the boot screen. Press Volume Down to select Recovery, then hit Volume up to choose it,

I don't think the small security patch for the HD was what closed the hole, as motofail works fine on ICS after the security patch...whatever they did to close the exploit was done in the JB...

Yes, that is the method used for ICS which was needed to get to the JB update...but since flashing the JB update I get as far as the Android with triangle exclamation and then I have to force shutdown, as it will go no further

Lol @natty is the only one with this problem lol :) I think ?

Its hold both volume + - & pwr for a few seconds, when phone is off. Select recovery then when Andy pops up with a red triangle hold both Vol -+ till the menus pops up.

This I have tried multiple times...I usually give up after holding -+ for about 45-50 seconds though, so maybe I should be here holding it longer?

Also I think there is a bug in recovery if yours don't work, use a app like ROM toolbox or terminal and choose reboot recovery or from terminal su , reboot recovery . Then try holding in both keys till it pops up.

ok, just tried again...it seems I have to hold the +- keys for a full minute in order to get into recovery....but at least I got in, so I'm satisfied....lol
