Well my SS side is empty, I'll give it a go. In this order:
Fastboot - Root - Update root and protect it. install SS then try for the OTA to see what happens.
Did I miss a step?
Done.
I followed my own steps after installing SafeStrap checked for updates and it was there ready to go. I then boot into SafeStrap wiped Cache and rebooted. Checked for updates again and the update was there ready to go. Downloaded and installed fine.
So I think we can rule SafeStrap out as being the problem. Now to fastboot again so I can make it purty the way I had it.

Ah OK. So this is the jellybean leak. Do you still need the crc file?
I personally haven't. But it's good to have.

Well my friends it turns out that the DROID RAZR HD can get better. This is a NON OFFICIAL Jelly Bean leak , not an OTA, not from Verizon. I have installed this and been running it for a little bit. I can tell you Its fast and fluid, many changes, and yes Google Now works just fine. Oh I have to mention YES Temple Run works! All jokes aside we do know that you can get back to stock using either RSD lite or @Mattlgroff's Utility . Also we have no clue to how many more will come out till the official OTA roles out. If you choose to install this leak, please be familiar with using ADB and RSDLite. This is a simple process to get to JB.
1) You must be a 100% stock with the 6MB maintenance OTA upate (0.7.2.XT926.Verizon.en.US)
2) Download the Update Zip >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Put on external1.
2a) Not sure if you need the crc file but get it >>>>>>>>>>> Just put on external1 also.(Right click on link, "save as")
3) You do not have to back up any of your data. It will stay the same as you left it. Unless you feel like it.
4) THOSE WHO ARE ROOTED & WISH TO KEEP ROOT-
a) Go into Play Store > My Apps....update SuperUser
b ) open SuperUser-- swipe to the left info tab.
- Tap on the 3rd Line (SU Binary tap to check for updates)
- update your binary to the latest.
c) download OTA RootKeeper from Play Store
-open OTA Rootkeeper > protect root (or delete backup if you have one already, and then Protect Root)
- Temp Unroot
5) Power down device.
6) Boot into Recovery:
- boot up while holding Power + Volume UP
- use Volume DOWN to navigate to "Recovery"
- use Volume UP to select
- when you see the Android on his back with the triangle Exclamation > Press Volume UP & DOWN
7) Select "Update from External"
8) Choose Zip (Blur_Version.0.7.2.XT926.Verizon.en.US).
9) Profit !
TO RESTORE ROOT:
10) on boot-- open OTS RootKeeper.
a) Restore Root
b ) Reboot (root doesn't seem to take until rebooted)
11) you should now have your Root Privileges restored!
